PARENTAL ADVISORY
Overall, King Conan #1 is an exciting debut, especially for fans of Conan. The story by Aaron is dense, and contains multitudes of well developed characterization. The art by the creative team is dripping with awesomeness. Altogether, a good old fashioned sword saga that has some high fantasy elements, with everyones favorite Barbarian. Read Full Review
KING CONAN #1 is an action-packed opener that almost any new reader could step right into with ease. Jason Aaron throws fans into the deep end cold providing little answers and powerful questions to be answered as the story unfolds. However, it's a storytelling technique he's used before with CONAN and it worked while empowering fans with all the eventual answers. So for now, CONAN fans should hang in there because past practice dictates that Aaron will gradually reveal some of the pressing details in good time. Read Full Review
A great start to what I believe will be a very entertaining series. An edge-of-your-seat nail-biter, I guarantee that you'll be reading this issue a couple of times before the next one drops. Read Full Review

King Conan #1 starts as it means to go on. Opening with a savage and extended battle, it is clear that Conans path to victory will be difficult. Aaron writing this character is a stroke of genius, as the loud action hero fits his wheelhouse perfectly. But there is a story behind it, with depth and twists that show that it isnt just a monster hunter series. And with a superstar art team, it will look spectacular too. Read Full Review
The only real flaw to King Conan #1 is that it is more likely to appeal to established Conan fans than newcomers. It is not inaccessible to new readers, thank Mitra, but the old guard will get far more out of this than anyone who just happens across this issue. That being said, this issue will prove a welcome treat for sword-and-sorcery fans everywhere. Read Full Review
King Conan may be under the Marvel banner , but don't expect any crossovers like the "Serpent's Crown" or "Savage Avengers" (great as those stories are). Nah, this is straight high adventure Conan and for those who want to read something that can best be described as neo nostalgia, Aaron has your fix right here. Read Full Review
KING CONAN #1 is a stark, gritty and powerful take on the worlds greatest Cimmerian in the twilight of his years. The art is outstanding, the story setup is a pleasant mix of straight action and potential mystery, and the new threat revealed at the end of the issue makes for a powerful cliffhanger. That said, the repetitive narration in the early pages hurts the pacing, but the story smooths out in the latter half of the book. Read Full Review
A great start. Jason Aaron can be a little hit and miss lately, but he nails Conan. If you liked his original 12 issue run, you'll like this too.
“King Conan #1” delivers a promising start to what could be an epic journey. While the first issue doesn’t dive deep into the action or plot development, it successfully sets the stage for Conan’s next chapter. The pacing may feel slow to some, with not much happening plot-wise, but the issue effectively builds anticipation and leaves readers curious about what lies ahead. The art captures the rugged, battle-hardened nature of Conan, and the story hints at the challenges and adventures that await him. This is a solid introduction, laying the groundwork for what could be a thrilling saga. Definitely worth keeping an eye on where this story will take Conan next.
