The Black Tide's wave of devastation now threatens Atlantis itself. Namor, Dorma and Attuma may be the undersea world's only hope, but unless they can shake off their utter defeat from last issue, they don't even stand a chance. King in Black: Namor #4 is another epic chapter in this underwater high fantasy story. What is fantastic about the tie-in is that it doesnt feel like a tie-in at all. Yes, the deciding factor in the plot was due to a Symbiotic item, but that could easily have been something different. Still, this is a loving flashback that truly submerges the reader into a lifestyle, an entire world. It all ends next issue, which means decisions must be made Read Full Review
Benjamin Dewey and Jonas Scharf drawings are stunning. Both use extraordinary detail. Meanwhile, Triona Farrell uses rich, cool tones to capture the essence of an underwriter environment. The combination creates a series of beautiful panels that really draw you into the story. Read Full Review
As both a tie-in and Namor story, King in Black: Namor has succeeded and it appears ready to stick the landing in the forthcoming issue #5. Read Full Review
I just think the problem here is that I don't care much for these characters.
Namor, Attuma, and Dorma make it back to Atlantis a day ahead of the Black Tide and all hope seems lost. Solid words and art strive to keep the story entertaining, but this issue's plot is very thin and filler-y. I'm betting Mr. Busiek got to the middle of this script and said, "Aw, dang, we didn't need 5 issues for this."
Bored.
