"NEXT OF KIN" CONCLUDES HERE!
Ben and Johnny's final stand to reclaim the name... FANTASTIC FOUR.
Rated T
It's been a long, strange trip with Ben and Johnny since Ben decided to take Johnny "on the road" across universes to buck up his morale after the apparent loss of Sue and Reed. Marvel 2-in-One has so far shown us some really good comic books in the Fantastic Four tradition, especially in the opening story that concluded with the showdown with the Galactus-powered Dr. Doom. "Marvel Two-In-One" #10 is a satisfying close to an epic storyline. Read Full Review
This is the kind of book that if you'd have handed it to me without the context of the previous issues, I'd have probably thrown it away before finishing it. I'm very busy, please don't bother me with this nonsense. As serialized as modern comics are, most comics readers wouldn't see a problem here. Personally, I think that in a world where I can go grab a Blu-ray copy of Vanilla Sky out of the bargain bin for $5, $4 should buy me something I can enjoy on its own merits, even if it is just part of a larger story. In context, this is yet another phenomenal installment in Zdarsky's ongoing saga of Johnny Storm and Ben Grimm. Read Full Review
It's a step up from the previous issue, but the redundancies and rote storytelling are still disappointing when you consider how greatly this series started out. Read Full Review
It is a mixed conclusion to this arc, one with more good than bad, but enough of the latter to miss greatness. Read Full Review
This series lost so much of its momentum. Those first few issues were pure gold. Zdarsky's finish is good enough but isn't very satisfying. Too bad. The art isn't helping. Ramon Perez...you can do better than this. I've seen it.
Anyway we'll see what happens with the reunion.
Got a bit too dragged by the end, but there's plenty of great character moments. Anyways, the FF is back next issue.
Awful art.
#10 of Marvel 2-in-1 serves as a good finish to the series (even though there’s still 2 more issues left) and would serve as a good lead into Fantastic Four (if it hadn’t already been released and shown that it ignored all character development from this series), but it was also probably the worst issue of the series. 2-in-1 has been a very solid book from Marvel, at least for the first 6/7 issues, but as soon as Ramon Perez took over art duties the whole book went down in quality. It seems even Zdarskys writing went down in quality with the artwork, which is a shame because this had potential to be a classic, but it didn’t really stand a chance with Marvel rushing out the Fantastic Four relaunch.
