Well, I didn't think I would enjoy this comic but not only did I appreciate this issue, I also left wanting to watch the Black Widow movie now. Plus, I want to buy the game to see what happens next! The artwork was ok. I won't brag about it because truthfully, Ive seen better in other Gamerverse issues. But thankfully, this issue had dialogue and storytelling that really kept my attention. This is a very enjoyable issue and I would highly recommend this to anyone interested in Black Widow or the game! Read Full Review
A really well written, beautifully drawn and colored one-shot highlighting some early history of the Black Widow in this canon and setting up things to come with the forthcoming game release. Definitely worth a read for people who are planning on buying the game but also a great read if you just want a good Black Widow yarn to read. Read Full Review

Overall, Marvel's Avengers: Black Widow #1 was a decent read, not many complaints to be had, but for an introduction issue to a possible main character to a game, it feels a bit weak. Read Full Review
Black Widow's integration into SHIELD throws her into contact with the future Taskmaster. No points for guessing how the double agent plot plays out. It's a sound if simple story, elevated by some nice, clean art.
I'm a little concerned by the "SHIELD and Russia are enemies" feeling. And, with Black Widow's movie delayed, I can't help but wonder if this origin for Taskmaster aligns with the MCU.
