Major Spoilers - Christopher Rondeau Jan 20, 2020

There is a lot of sexual tension between him and cat and a bit of guilt in his current relationship with Mary Jane Watson. Through the dialogue, we explore Spider-Man's psyche and it is such a great thing for the reader to grab on to. Read Full Review

A really solid first issue. It gives you history without taking away from the story that the creative team is telling, very entertaining, fun, thrilling-exactly what a Spider-Man story should be. Read Full Review

SPIDER-MAN: THE BLACK CAT STRIKES #1 takes an interesting approach, devoting much of this issue to an extended flashback. The creators manage to make it work, though, offering up a pleasing story with a hook to bring readers back for the next issue. Read Full Review

Comics: The Gathering - Harlan Ivester Jan 15, 2020

The Black Cat Strikes #1 is a really solid first issue. I was surprised to find how much new content there was in the story, even if it’s very standard for Spider-Man. The dialogue is weird at times, but those of us that are here for the Peter/Felicia tension will be happy. Maresca & Rosenberg give this book a major advantage with crisp, fluid visuals that bring the scene to life. I’m going to go boot up my PS4 now. Read Full Review

Spidey stumbles into ex-GF Black Cat in the middle of a curious caper. A large chunk of the issue is devoted to a flashback showing their flirtatious first hookup. The pace is fast and the plot is pretty interesting. The art's serviceable and the dialogue, with a few wobbles, does a good job portraying a sexy relationship. (But MJ's also in the mix to add some triangular complications going forward.)
