And if the writer is going to give us the Muslim explanation, at least make it accurate. Wilson literally cuts out Allah of the explanation of the holiday.

• Kamala's no stranger to fighting for what's right, but in facing down this challenge, everything she is will be called into question. Not just as a super hero, but as a human being.

Ms. Marvel #19 is a powerful issue. It's topical, heartfelt, and well written, besides. The sudden realignment of old ideas gives it a tremendous kick and a real feeling of the stakes being organically high. Kamala's unique position in pop culture allows her the ability to step away from the escapism and idealism that she so wonderfully provides to grapple for a moment with reality and this may be the biggest and the most overwhelming example of that yet. Ms. Marvel continues to be one of Marvel's strongest series as G. Willow Wilson continues to plumb new depths with her fan-favorite heroine. With civilians and politics making Jersey City almost a character unto itself, Ms. Marvel #19 pushes Kamala on a personal level and tests her perseverance as a hero. Read Full Review
Have we ever seen this story in a comic before? Complete new and unique.
It's Eid time and all is not well in Jersey City: Hydra's back with a sinister new agenda. G. Willow Wilson dives into another Marvel event with another unique take. While this storyline doesn't ship under a Secret Empire banner, it addresses a lot of the same issues and pits Kamala against similar enemies. And with her family at risk, it looks like the stakes are only going to get higher. New artist Marco Failla does a great job with both the prosaic minutiae of Eid at the Khan house and Ms. Marvel's new, more elasticated fighting style.
I have to say that this has one of the most generic covers ever, at least when paired with the story inside. Ms Marvel goes up against a former team-mate when she was working for Captain Marvel during the second super hero Civil War who has come back now working for Hydra. This is one of the better ways to tie-in to the Secret Empire without actually being tied in so I have to give the writer major credit for that. The art is great and there are some good character designs here. This continues to be a favorite of mine in the Marvel titles that is still high when they are not at their best.
Not everybody is PC. Some people are still stuck in this archaic mindset that your color makes you superior over others. And it's more than you think. I really hope that Wilson pulls this story off right. It could mean a lot in getting people to see that everyone deserves fair treatment.
A very solid issue on the surface but there are so many problems with Ms Marvel 19. The first Ms Marvel series truly embraced Kamala’s religion but now Wilson is taking Allah/God out of the origins of the RELIGIOUS holiday that is going on throughout this issue. That part with Zoe at dinner is just so eye roll inducing as well. Sad to see the decline in quality of this run.
Blatant and obvious message. No longer about the story expressing itself, but the writer using a comic to express herself. Also stop giving us explanation to Muslim holidays just to be page filler. Why does a story need to take a pause to make sure there is a Muslim check made. I remembered Kamala for being a hero, today she is known as the Muslim hero.
