Why is everyone she knows singing, and how can she make it stop?
Rated T
Samira Ahmed makes a book that perfectly blends superhero fun with coming-of-age sensibilities. If you like the majority of Ms. Marvel content, there's no reason to believe you wouldn't be into this title. It's well worth the coin. Read Full Review
Ms. Marvel #1 starts out with the seed of a serious plot and then takes a deft shift in tone. It's over the top and a little goofy, but Kamala manages to maintain a solid grip on reality. I really enjoyed this as the start of a new arc. Read Full Review
An already solid debut sets the stage for even more excitement ahead. Read Full Review
It feels authentically Ms. Marvel and at the end of the day, that's all I can really ask for. Samira Ahmed seems to really understand what made this character so popular to readers and Andres Genolet's pencils feel like the perfect choice for this title. His art is light, it'sfun, and I couldn't think of a better artist for a title like this. Read Full Review
Ms. Marvel: Beyond the Limit #1is an intriguing start to one of Kamala's wildest adventures yet. Samira Ahmed does a great job of writing our heroine and imbibes her with Ms. Marvel's distinct spirit. Even though the action scenes and sense of movement could use more work, Genolet and Farrell's art and colors are vibrant, and Caragmna's letters cap it off to make this a swimming read. I can't wait to see where it goes next. Read Full Review
Overall, I feel like there is room for this story to grow and improve, but I am hopeful that it will. I have faith in the creators behind this run, and I know they will do the character, who means so much, to so many people, justice. Read Full Review
Ms. Marvel is finally back! This first issue built up some solid ground for where this mini series is going. I think Samir’s Ahmed has a unique story that is going to unfold. I think she laid down. Some solid dialogue for Kamala and Genolet’s art style matches this Bollywood style in some really cool ways. Shout out to the book starting off in Chicago.
Can’t wait to see what trouble our Embiggening hero gets into.
I am so happy she is back! Solid Issue #1!
It's cute, it's fun, it spends an awful lot of time re-introducing Kamala to the reader. It's drawn beautifully in a style that proves simple isn't bad. The plot barely gets started, but what's there looks promising.
I'm not sure if the humor is quite the right kind of corny for the character. Or maybe my head isn't in the right place today.
Is it as good as the first half of GW Wilson's Ms. Marvel? No. But no other Kamala run -- not even the rest of Wilson's run -- has ever been that good. This is certainly no disappointment, and it's certainly great to have Kamala back.
I'm happy to see this series back, at least for a bit. Ms. Marvel has been the only comic series I've been able to get my wife to read on a regular basis, so that's a plus for me.
I do miss the regular side characters, hopefully they won't be ignored. The group of characters around Kamala I have always enjoyed reading about. So I'd knock off a point for omitting them. Kamala is as delightful a character as always, plot not really needed to make it enjoyable. And the plot is... It's there. It's comic booky. Fun but certainly not shocking but not every issue needs that. I'm okay with standard comic book fun. Good times.
This was fun. That's all.
Fun read.
