Get ready for a dynamic team up of epic proportions as writer Nnedi Okorafor along with artist Leonardo Romero and colorist Jordie Bellaire unite Shuri and Iron Man to take on the forces of evil. Read Full Review
Freedom Wings Shuri #5 is the fun read you'd turn to during your dreadful public transit commute. At times it is sure to crack a smile, and maybe a quick “HA!”. Shuri's black girl magic drips off her metal wings and blesses us all. I hope that there will be more integration from the ancestors as Shuri shapes the mantle to fit her goals and the needs of her people. Read Full Review
This book lost its way a long time ago, and it seems as though less and less effort is given as time passes. Read Full Review
Really liked the team dynamic with Tony. Usually characters are always pieces of shit when Tony appears in their stories. I did hated that they just let the villain die with them just saying "he'll probably be fine" and calling it a day.
The story with the space lubber just is not compelling enough. Also the reliance on the "hacker" seems to detract from the protagonist and her abilities. Enjoyed the end, but I think the two issue break with a new team will breathe some new life into a series which does have potential, despite the up and down nature of the first five books.
Kinda rushed and I wish there had been a little bit more going on here, but I like the character and I want to see how it goes so...
I'll take their word for it that LEDs can be hacked but... those appear to be florescents depicted in the art and, regardless, that still doesn't mean the lights become speakers.
The encounter itself is rushed and ridiculous; I actually found the falling action with Shuri confronting a difficult choice more interesting. I also appreciate the effort to include real African references.
Not the best issue. In fact, it felt like a bit of a waste of Iron Man. But at least we have some interesting things coming up with Shuri officially taking the Black Panther mantle again.
Mostly because of the IM content helped generate my interest.
