Star Wars: The Screaming Citadel #1 does the best it can to kickstart the Star Wars comic line that has stalled as of late. But with Gillen deciding to focus on character development the issue allows growing in both Aphra and Luke. The art is styled in a fashion the blends the two series allowing it to be equal parts of Star Wars and Dr. Aphra. My only complaint is here come the shippers" Read Full Review
A terrifically fun first issue that's quintessential Star Wars and unlike anything you've ever seen in the galaxy far, far away. Read Full Review
This issue sets the stage for this series with promises of much to come. Luke and Aphra make a fun team and they're bound to find plenty of trouble. The visuals are top notch, to be sure. I'm looking forward to the next issue. Read Full Review
It's Marvel Star Wars. That alone is reason enough to check this out and while it's not great for new readers it builds upon the various excellent history that we've had the ability to enjoy over the last year or so. This first issue delivers and has me anxiously awaiting what comes next. Read Full Review
Marvel's second Star Wars crossover is shaping up to be stronger than the first. The Screaming Citadel #1 uses both Star Wars and Doctor Aphra as a logical jumping-off point, making the most of this unusual pairing and introducing a compelling new world in the process. Kieron Gillen and Marco Checchetto are the ideal creative team to play in a galaxy far, far away. Read Full Review

I really liked this. The "Star Wars" franchise has been, quite frankly, growing pretty stale lately, as the main title has been inconsistent at best, and "Doctor Aphra," while pretty good, isn't in the same league as Gillen's solo Vader book. But Aphra and Luke have some charming chemistry here. The plot moves along at a nice clip, introducing some cool stuff while allowing time for the characters to breathe and interact. For the first time in a while, I'm really excited to read the next issue of "Star Wars."
An interesting start to this crossover with great art. It felt a lot like the movie Crimson Peak o me. I think pairing Luke and Aphra could be an interesting move. The environment is great.
This was way fun 👍🏽🤘🏼
You have to suspend disbelief that Luke would run off with Aphra without telling anyone (it is actually pretty well justified). Do that, and you are in for one of the most unique Star Wars stories I've seen. A couple panels are a little unclear, but overall the artwork is excellent.
This was a lot of fun, probably the most fun I've had out of a Star Wars comic in a while. Checchetto's art is beautiful and imaginative, for new characters and creatures look amazing while the well-known characters like Luke and Han look like their movie counterparts. Gillen writes a compelling story, pitting two unlikely characters together against what looks like a terrifying villain.
