Star Wars: Darth Vader #18 is one of the most engaging and enlightening Star Wars tales in the franchise’s four-decade history. Since their first issue of the relaunch, Charles Soule and the entire creative team consistently bring nuance and depth to the character of Vader in a way that’s both surprising and rewarding, demonstrating that there are plenty of layers to the Dark Lord of the Sith—and his allies and enemies—to be explored. The overall idea of the story has been done before BUT not with Darth Vader. However, Soule's creativity shines through in "how" Tarkin deploys his tactics and what he does in his attempt to kill one of the greatest villains of all time. If that doesn't sell you, then pick the issue up for its fantastic artistic display of Vader in action. If you love Star Wars, you will love this issue. Read Full Review

Soule does a great job of giving us a look inside of Tarkin's mind here and the way Vader deals with combat at this stage while Camanucoli and Orlandini continue to be strong in the visual design. While I'm not looking for a series of one-off stories like this I do want more of them to explore the fringes of Star Wars and these characters more. Read Full Review

After a great return to normal, the Darth Vader series proceeds into a whole new story. This issue ends with a taste of stranger things to come as a character from much earlier in this series shows up unexpectedly. Certainly her path will cross Vaders sooner than later. Read Full Review
One of my favorite issues of a series that I've almost consistently loved. Tarkin and Vader sharing the spotlight for this one off story is a real treat. Its cool to see a smart man like Tarkin refer to Vader as essentially unstoppable. This could be the most badass that the character has been yet. Soule also remains very loyal to the Tarkin that has been displayed in the canon so far.
Just a one-off story of Grand Admiral Tarkin trying to kill earth Vader. But it's gripping and the dialogue/exposition works very well
I really liked Tarkin's narration and the ties this story had to his novel. I was a little disappointed all of Tarkin's mercenaries were killed without us learning anything about them. This was a nice one-and-done story, I'm really looking forward to "Fortress Vader" next issue.
