The Strange Academy kids have a night on the town in New Orleans! Some kids go for a tour of a famous NOLA graveyard, and I’m sure you know how teens in graveyards usually go. Emily takes a field trip of her own, and we also learn the SECRET ORIGIN OF ZOE LAVEAU!
Strange Academy continues to peel back the layers and give deeper glimpses of its student body, for better and for worse, while still displaying the levels of heart and fun that make the book work overall. This series not only shows how teen books can work still in the comic book realms, but gives a solid glimpse at just how varied and deep the realm of magic can be at Marvel when one chooses to explore it more. No matter what the plot requires of these characters or where they're heading, there's always a tremendous amount of heart in Strange Academy"even when you think there's no possibility for some warmth and optimism. Read Full Review

So, to wrap it all up, I'm thrilled that Strange Academy #13 has brought the school back into session. With an ominous air lingering over one of the students as this story closes, I look forward to seeing where the story will take our group of misfit mages next. Read Full Review
Very good; origin of Zoe that has depth and room for more; we are starting to see Emily's different approach to using magic that differs from her instructors (especially Strange). Must be on your pull list.
This is a solid issue, if not complacent.
Overall nice filler book. Zoe story is well told and Emily is still well written. The setup for the next bad is kinda a plot device. My only gripe is the issue really shows the semi archaic avenue of monthly books. In the full collected volume this will be wonderful. As a single buy not so much. But still you can’t go wrong with this series to much.
Everything's pulled together by nice parallels on the theme of wishes, and the art is dang good. But there's an earnestness to the theme work that comes out in wordy, expository dialogue. Not a subtle comic, this -- but hardly a bad one.
