Symbiote Spider-Man: Alien Reality #4 is the kind of comic that reads well enough, isn't overtly bad by any means, but winds up being forgotten almost as soon as it's finished being read. No one will feel ripped off in purchasing it, but it reveals the inherent limitations of a flashback miniseries of "tales we forgot to tell you:" there's only so much that the writer can do without interrupting established continuity. Here, Peter David's efforts just feel kind of disposable. Read Full Review
After an uneven issue #2, Symbiote Spider-Man: Alien Reality #4 evens back out and delivers an interesting issue that despite feeling very expected and not particularly groundbreaking does offer a bit of an adventure as we head into the Nightmare Realm. Read Full Review
I just... don’t care about this.
Daydream, The Nightmare Realm and Mary Jane as Green Goblin.
Yeah... The symbiote twist really hardly works at all. Otherwise, this was a fine issue.
To me, this is essentially a best-case outcome with this creative team.
This was decent I guess. After literally retreating from the last issue, Spidey and Stephen decide to go back just to save Felicia. They both go to the Nightmare Realm, which is where things kind of get a bit weird, except for MJ being the Green Goblin. Because that was really cruel, but in a good way. The twist about the Symbiote pretending to be Peter after the end of the 2 issue barely helps that much. And things get weird. I won’t go to in depth in this just because of that.
