The action, artwork and character work all come together nicely to wrap up this series, but the loss of what could have been a really fun ongoing shrouds the whole thing. The Union is a really fun comic exploring a whole new world of superheroics. Read Full Review
It's disappointing that this book wasn't given a shot at greatness, but at least it ends with some actual heroism and teamwork from the group and some well-done art. Read Full Review
The Union ends in a much stronger place than it began, but the denouements in this issue don't land with much strength as they lack a foundation. Read Full Review
Overall, the premier of Britains newest superhero team was an interesting premise. Sadly though, the series plot, and the development of the characters just never felt like they resonated. Generally, it just felt very derivative of many other team up stories, but without any big wow factor. As a Brit myself I was excited for this series, all in all it was a very average read. I read this series in one go, and it was perfectly cromulant. Good art, characters with interesting powers, a few twists, some fight scenes... If this had come out as a miniseries in the 80s, it would probably have been received better. Some of critics seem to be taking it to task just for being a miniseries, or (ironically for something that started out as an event tie-in) for not having much of a point in the larger universe. But I liked it just fine.
Neat bow. Safe ending. Don't know if I'll ever see these guys again. They would fit in well over on Excalibur.

Such a blah wrap-up to a blah comic.
It's all too appropriate that this series ends with a "doo-doo" joke.
I just wish I cared more about this team, but honestly they'll probably just fade into obscurity and I won't notice them gone.
