Rated T+
Ultimate Wolverine #2 continues to deliver on the darker aspects of Makers manipulations, showcasing how far into the extreme the Wolverine and Winter Soldier concepts can be pushed. Condons script is filled with excellent character beats that sell both the clinical amusements of the Maker and the hyper-paranoia that Dr. Prostovich is operating under. The writing and art also make sure to juxtapose those high-intensity feelings with the unnerving stillness of this Wolverine. Cappuccios artwork conveys the hunter aspect of the character, trading berserker rage and wild paneling for concise violence and stillness in the compositions. The end result is a compelling read that pivots the feeling of genre for the book, going from action-driven espionage to tense paranoia thriller. Read Full Review

The art excels in creating a chilling, violent atmosphere, though the story could benefit from a faster pace and more character insight. Read Full Review
Ultimate Wolverine #2 drives home that Logan's Winter Soldier is the Terminator of the Ultimate Universe. While the bigger picture story isn't progressed very much, we at least get solid character development for Logan, Colossus, and Magik. The artwork by Alessandro Cappuccio really does a lot of heavy lifting with the subtle things done in ways characters emote throughout this issue. That is enough to keep interest in where things are headed. Read Full Review
Ultimate Wolverine #2 sets up a plausible reason for the Winter Soldier to kill a bunch of soldiers, and that's it. Chris Condon's script takes a cue from the rest of the Ultimate titles by foregoing a compelling plot and direction in favor of a slow-burn tale unconcerned with going anywhere anytime soon. Well, at least Alessandro Cappuccio's art looks great. Read Full Review
