“SECOND COMING”, CHAPTER TEN Things have never been worse for the X-Men. They’re stuck in an impregnable dome of Bastion’s creation. As if that's not bad enough, inside this dome is a portal to the Days of Future Past timeline through which thousands of Nimrod Sentinels are pouring. Cyclops has sent Cable, Cypher and X-Force on a suicide mission into the future to destroy the portal, but do they stand a chance? Rated T …$2.99

The Weekly Crisis - Ryan Schrodt Jun 11, 2010

After taking a week off, the XMen Second Coming crossover is back in full force this week with another solid installment. While the story just barely moves forward, Matt Fraction does a great job of raising the stakes and the intensity while Terry and Rachel Dodson continue to do a solid job with all of the characters involved. The story does spin its wheels a bit, but the craftsmanship is so solid that I really don't mind. Read Full Review

Nonetheless, this is a strong return to form for both Fraction and the event in general. After a floundering middle act, there's a strong sense of purpose again, and a lot of plot threads waiting to be picked up on. Once again, I find myself eager to see where things will end up when the dust settles. Read Full Review

The art was a step up from the previous Dodson art on Uncanny. Still, there needs to be more fine tuning in the tightness of the lines to match the caliber of the other artists contributing to this event. There are times when the art just appears to stretched out for my liking. All in all, though, this was another fantastic issue handled expertly by Matt Fraction and the art team. A fitting display of the X-Men at their best, fighting for their collective lives while their backs are against the wall. Read Full Review

At this rate, I'm going to have to drop another comic from my list that I've been reading for more than four decades. A shame, really. Read Full Review

The latest from Second Coming throws in a good issue. It doesn't really bring anything new in terms of plot or even a movement towards a resolution. However, it has some decent elements in it making it an entertaining read. This issue stands out as one of the better ones in this crossover, but it still hardly leaning on the memorable side of things. Read Full Review

But despite that, "Second Coming" is finally enjoyable for me again. This issue brings some exciting developments to fruition and knows how its chief players should brush up against one another. Read Full Review

    Comic Book Bin - Herv St-Louis Jul 11, 2010

The X-Men send a smaller team to the future to stop the sentinels from traveling to the present and destroying all mutants, but the ground zero of the sentinels may prove too strong to destroy. The issue is interesting with all the guest stars, but for me the highlight was the art by Dodson. If it wasnt for him, this issue would not have been so interesting. The X-Men are tired and are not innovating anymore. I like the special operation team, although I found Angel, the old X-Men veteran and founding member weak in character and not a good example for the other newer guys. There is a sense that the X-Men have reached their limit but it feels more like the writer is telling us rather than showing us the threat. Read Full Review

Of course, the issue ends with a To Be Continued in New Mutants #14. Maybe it shouldnt, but this does affect my overall rating for the issue. I was complaining about event fatigue years ago, and not only has it not stopped, but both of the big two have found ways to do more events. Theyve crammed this story into 5 titles... and while it might be big enough to warrant it, after all of the other crossovers weve been getting almost constantly, that is reason enough for some to give it a pass. Enough with the event crossovers guys... even if this is a great one, it's becoming a real burden. I know there are only a few chapters to go in this, but the complaint remains valid.
