Not to ruin how Wolverine decides to deal with the situation I can say while his plan is playing out he and Cyclops eventually turn from arguing to all out brawling. This brawl is definitely the highlight of the issue. Its handled beautifully by the legendary artist Alan Davis. In fact Aaron steps aside and this epic battle between the two unfolds solely by the cinematic penmanship of the master Davis. No words were needed! Read Full Review

Davis is also a master at conveying emotions on the faces of his characters, even on Cyclops when a mask obscures most of his face. This is just a really good looking book that happens to be well written as well. I can't speak for everyone, but that's exactly what I want out of a superhero comic. Read Full Review

Putting Alan Davis on this issue makes me really wish he'd drawn the entire miniseries. Having a different artist on each book has resulted in tremendously uneven artwork, which I imagine will be even more jarring when someone reads the collected edition. This issue, though, looks great. Davis is an old master of the comic book form, and the confrontation between Cyclops and Wolverine really proves he deserves the title. It's been great seeing all the different X-Men working together for what might be the last time for the foreseeable future. It almost felt a little too convenient for the lack of X-Men during Cyclops and Wolverine's talk but that was needed for the events to escalate. How much you enjoy this issue is probably going to depend on how hung up you get on the problems. Even though they bugged me, I thought the positives outweighed the negatives and I like seeing a story rounding into shape in an era when Marvel spoils everything with their marketing and solicits. Can you imagine how cool this would have been if it wasn't spoiled? Then it might have gotten some buzz NOW instead of buzz back in the spring. On the other hand, if the flaws really bug you…..I wouldn't argue with those wanting to give this a lower score. I'm just so positively disposed towards Alan Davis that it leaves me in a good mood. One team Ican be left off of though is Alan Davis. His art isnt poor by any means, itjust doesnt appeal to me. He draws an incredible looking super Sentinel. Hisaction choreography and panel flow are both fine as well. Its his facialexpressions. They are too out of proportion for my tastes. Also they seem a bitrepetitive. After allthe buildup to the onset of the Loganvs. Scott battle, when it finally gets here it feels a bit anti-climatic. Whilewhat sets the two at each others' throats has its basis in the direction thateach wants to take the X-Men in, and how seriously to involve the kids, itreally comes down to blows as the result of a smart-aleck comment over acharacter long gone.
