Kindt and Laming create another amazing issue here. Sure, it was a little slow, but it served as a set up for what is to come. Not familiar with the Shadow Seven? No problem, this story fills you in on what you need to know about each one. Not familiar with Ninjak? You also get some background on the deadliest man in the Valiant Universe right here. I read the whole Shadow Seven storyline, I am familiar with them all, and yet, this was still a very enjoyable romp of a book. As a jumping on point this far into the series, you can't go wrong starting here if you're willing to dive into a story that's the culmination of the series so far (and, amazingly enough, you really can). I can't wait for the next issue. Read Full Review

Ninjak promises to deliver a thrilling tale in the next few issues. This first installment in “The Seven Swords of Mister Darque” story will have a lot of pieces to move. Ninjak, ostensibly, will have become a big team book, and from what this prelude has demonstrated, it will be well-balanced and a lot of fun. Read Full Review

There's a good feeling about‘The Seven Blades of Master Darque' by the end of Ninjak #23. This one final mission is going to be a big one no matter how it ends. In the end, we know nothing is perfect, but you can say that Ninjak #23 is pretty is about as good as it gets on aquality level in both art and story. Ninjak is a book that's so full of potential that it's frustrating to see it unfold as it does because all I can envision is something larger and grander with more weight to it. That's not to say I'm not enjoying what it's doing here because I am, but I want it to be so much more. This installment is basically an easy introduction to the characters that are going to populate this arc with their motivations and it works as a showcase for just how powerful Roku is with what she can do, which is to say she's overpowered. Colin himself has a small part but it's something that could lead to an interesting twist for him and I'm curious to see just how far, and how truthful, it will go. Read Full Review
