Enter: Livewire!
On an airtight team of stone-cold soldiers, Amanda McKee is the one variable in the equation that equals absolute kill. Now, as the last woman standing against the unstoppable force known as X-O Manowar, the Harbinger Foundation's most seasoned technopath has just added one new item to her resume -- newest bearer of the X-O Manowar armor and the finger behind the trigger of the universe's most powerful weapon. Watch out world...this means trouble.
Valiant Comic's Unity #3 is arguably the best issue in the series yet. Kindt and Braithwaite seamlessly deliver another captivating tale, but this one shakes the story telling up by executing compelling narration. Combine that with interesting characters and satisfying plot progression, and you've got yourself a must buy book. Read Full Review
While I'm aware Valiant maintains a shared universe, the team behind Unity is doing a great job of delivering a series that stands on its own. Moreover, the global stage upon which these players move and counter-move has certainly made for a thoughtful and engaging opening salvo. It also looks as though Kindt is setting up the members of Unity for a second, and possibly greater conflict, that will deal with issues of utilitarianism, the centralization of power, and personal betrayal. So yes, overall, a fantastic read. Some of Livewire's dialogue felt a bit off, and the story jumped up a bit towards the end, but this really was a great issue. Read Full Review
If you wanted to know more about Livewire, then this is the issue you wanted to pick up. You wouldn't know much about her unless you were up to date with the Harbinger books or an old fan of the books, but this gave you everything you needed to know about her so simply. It was an excellent example of what she is capable of as the Harbinger Foundation's most seasoned technopath. You want to read this book now if not already because there is so much than what's on the surface. Considering everything you know about the Harbinger storyline, even the most recent issue today, you'd know that this twist was inevitable. It was unexpected, clever, and a good reason to stay tuned in for more. Read Full Review
Unity continues to be a thrill ride worthy of Valiant’s line wide high quality standards. The book is unforgettable thanks to Kindt and Braithwaite, who continually have brought life to the adventures of the mismatched heroes that have all banded together in this for this series. With a story that manage to explore a character and advance the story quite well while balancing the rest, Matt Kindt impress as his additions to the Valiant universe proves to be very entertaining and well thought-out. With the artistic talent of Doug Braithwaite and the colors of Brian Reber, it also manages to look very good, making this issue an essential read for fans of this universe. Read Full Review
A team book unlike any other, Unity is one of Valiant's most interesting and complex books yet. It really is a must read for fans of realistic and smart superhero comics. Read Full Review
As with all issues under the resurrected X-O title, Unity #3 features enough booms, blasts, and pows to keep us coming back for more. Read Full Review
If you're only reading one Valiant book, Unity might be the one. A team-up book is a tough sell for new readers, in some ways, but Unity is, thus far, a tightly plotted, wonderfully paced adventure that will keep you guessing " and keep you intrigued, regardless of what other books you're reading. Add in Doug Braithwaite and Brian Reber contributing rock solid art (and putting forth a strong argument that Unity is Valiant's best-looking book), and you have a winner. I don't know if Kindt can maintain the strong combination of whiplash-inducing pace and evenhanded action, but as long as he keeps it up, Unity will be one of the best superhero books on the shelves. Matt Kindt is everywhere these days, and Unity might not be his best book, but it's still a hell of a comic. He writes each issue like this is the only series in the Valiant Universe, giving attention to every character, fleshing out every scene. The stakes are high, with battles at the bottom of the ocean dictating impending nuclear warfare and it's all handled with fluid grace. More than any other book in this company's line, Unity is a superhero comic and it's big one at that. When compared to the superhero books coming out of some of the other companies out there, it's easy to see why Unity is pretty great. Amazing art, solid story and lots of cool characters. Overall, Unity #3 was a rather enjoyable issue to read! The story sets up the next issue nicely with a mission that seems bigger than the last. Although it's not perfect, Unity is worth keeping tabs on due to the story progression. It certainly seems that this will be a series that consistently improves with each entry.Total Score: 8.5/10 Read Full Review
Unity is moving at a fantastic pace and it doesnt appear to be slowing down any time soon. With the end of the first arc quickly approaching, its hard to tell exactly what Kindt is planning for this superstar cast of Valiant characters. Whatever hes planning, with an art team the caliber of Braithwaite and Reber, you can be sure youre not going to want to miss it. Bring on issue #4! Read Full Review
Another good chapter in this exciting event book. Read Full Review
UNITY has proven it's a great book and it's only on the third issue. The intensity never really slows down in this series, even when Kindt decides to dial back the action and focus on a lesser-known character. Then there's the hook for the next story. It's pretty much guaranteed to make you want the next issue right away. UNITY technically isn't a "big event," but it absolutely feels like a damn good one. Read Full Review
Unity #3 hits on many levels, some surprising, but mostly in a very full and well rounded way. Kindt and Braithwaite make a great team on this title and it's so much more than you might expect. Unity is really starting to hit it's stride and if you haven't checked this out then you are missing out on some great comic book storytelling and action. It pulls from so many influences within the Valiant Universe to make one of the best team books on the comic shop shelves. Read Full Review
After two very, very well done issues, this one was more of a so so variety. I am excited to see what this means for X-O Manowar and this book going forward, though, and in that regard it was a success. Read Full Review
Italia - eccellente.
Super.
i want to give this issue a higher score but the page count and missing action/story sequence cost it. Aside from a big battle being in an issue of XO, instead of in Unity where it belongs, i enjoyed this issue a lot. Plenty of great character moments, dialog, art, action, etc! The ending is most thrilling, possibly setting up an even better twist then i expected.
