Promising start, and Garth Ennis is not the type of writer to disappoint the reader, especially when he writes characters like the Punisher, although I have a certain fear that Marvel's editorial could turn the classic version of Nick Fury into a villain if they drastically change the concept of the character based on this retcon.

But I hope that doesn't happen.

As always, Phillip Kennedy Johnson's Hulk is impoverishedly pathetic to the point of relying solely on the return of Nic Klein, who not even with double pages can make the narrative interesting. If you like seeing the Hulk serve as a ladder for other characters to climb, buy this issue and help Marvel cover the costs of each Klein return.

EVERY COMMENT about this run is love for Klein! EVERY MONTH is the same thing. This guy DOESN'T SAVE THE QUALITY OF THE STORY, he's doing what the script wants. Why can't people just accept that this is rubbish with or without Klein? Klein is not Joe Bennett!!!!!!!!!!!!

ResearchReader - Apr 12, 2024

But I think daspidaboy and many are pointing out that Klein brings the story to life. Some artists are just like that, they can elevate a story. Picture is worth a thousand words after all. Additionally the story isnt the worst thing this issue, but the art is actively harming it.

This arc could be a bit tighter, but PKJ uses the slower pacing to create a creepy atmosphere, aided by guest artist Danny Earls, who, as I felt with the last issue, draws New Orleans very well. NO abuse that she SUPPOSEDLY could have suffered was revealed, we don't even know in 10 issues why she got the scar on his face. She beat her father to death, without ANY plausible explanation as to why she would have such strength to achieve such a feat. PKJ's narrative, which is admittedly woke, is purposefully flawed to please its readers who fawn over it.

Tempter - Apr 1, 2024

It's not just about the SUPPOSED abuse of the teenager, it's about this run making the Hulk something he's not, a hero of political correctness. Re-read this and see straight couples being victims of hatred by wokes and even how women treat men, with two lackeys in the first issue.
