The Justice League has long protected Earth from all manner of foreign and alien invaders over the years, always keeping a vigilant eye to the skies for the next threat. But what if the threat was already walking the Earth…hiding in plain sight…watching…waiting for their moment to strike… In the tradition of DCeased comes a terrifying new series from the twisted minds of James Tynion IV (Nice House on the Lake; Something is Killing the Children), Matthew Rosenberg (The Joker Presents: A Puzzlebox; 4 Kids Walk Into A Bank; Hawkeye), and Otto Schmidt that will tear the Justice League apart in their war with the undead!
It's a good book for the concept but I can't pretend that I don't realize the reason this book was created for right now: to promote vaccination. The panels from Schmidt weren't subtle at all. Now, I should add, so that I'm not misunderstood, that I am vaccinated and I think people should get the vaccine so that this whole nightmare can be over as soon as possible, though I don't think it should be forced upon anyone. I felt the need to add that because I'm sure the usual crazies here would have come to attack and pretend they understand I said something else. Now the problem for me here is that the way Luthor creates the shot here is... just stupid. He just takes the syringe, injects himself in the neck gets the blood out and... that's it. Like, that just makes no sense. If this is DC's way to support vaccination I have to say, it's pretty uninspired. That's not how vaccines work, there is research and testing done, this was just very, very dumb.
Do you think Tynion had time write in boosters too? I'm so thrilled he's leaving Batman.
wait! you mean to tell me, they spent all this time, to write a story that promotes vaccination? You're joking right? I find it hard to believe that you came to this conclusion after reading a story where green lantern makes a human smoothie outta 1/2 of the wonder twins...
If the final shot with Alfred holding the vaccine in his hand and talking about saving the world didn't you hit in the head with it, nothing will. But I'm pretty sure you saw through it and just pretends that isn't there. Wouldn't be your first time.
*hit you, *pretend. I find a tad disingenuous your last phrase. It doesn't matter what ridiculous scenarios comics are using, they always manage to push through some social issues and I have no doubt this was in the writers' minds when they wrote it.
or maybe...you're reaching for something that actually isn't there. Look hard & desperately enough, you'll find whatever it is you want.
and the fact you think that a writer was like "oh let me add an injection to convince people to get a vaccine...brilliant!" is rather sad. How far are you willing to go for confirmation bias?
Or maybe you just pretend that isn't there. Like I said, I've seen your reviews here before, it wouldn't be the first time you did that. As per your second comment, writers DO try heavily to influence society through their writings. It's been this way forever and now with social media is more evident than ever. You have to really put your head in the sand to pretend otherwise. But then again, you do have experience in that department. As it's said, ignorance is bliss.
Tynion clearly writes this in the midst of the lockdowns so it stands to reason hes using this as allegory for the spread of the virus. I'm not recalling injections being used to cure vampirism as part of the mythology and Bennett being present is DC horror vampire staple. At the very least Tynion is using the conditions of current fears of the virus as the foundation of this story. The vaccinations fall squarely into that.
Whether Tynion is being is selling vaccinations to his readers is on the reader but it's clearly using today's real world as the mirror for this story. Granted it's also DC trying a second dip into the ideas of DCeased.
Yeah, vampires used to be killed with wooden stakes, garlic, the sun, that sort of stuff. Now it's with vaccines. Tooooootal coincidence. Sure, you can think that. If you're actively trying not to think at all.
For me Tynion cant leave DC fast enough. He stunk up Batman to the point where the book is unreadable to me so any prosletysing for vaccinations are ignored on my part.
Of course it's not a coincidence. Its oh so original Tynion neing oh so original again.
I wouldn't be very surprised if Rosenberg came up with the idea. He is woven from the same cloth as Tynion, both of them have this megalomania that they're some authority figures on twitter and they carry that in their comics.
Oh, and in case it has escaped your attention, three other people liked this review, which makes me think they saw through the writers' intentions too. So, you know, there's 5 of us, so I'm definitely not seeing thing that aren't there since others are seeing it, too. Not that Rosenberg, Tynion and Schmidt were subtle or anything, you just have to voluntarily turn your brain off not to see it.
Wait you've read my reviews??? You took the time to actually read through my thoughts. That's impressive. But i truly hope one day you stop believing in conspiracy theories & actually enjoy a book series. Most writers are influenced by the writing of today but to think they're actively trying to convince poeple to do things...you're actively being psychotic. I hope you grow outta of these adolescent, conspiracy driven narratives you digest.
also i would recommend updating you're vampire lore, the killing of vampires & even the way vampires consume blood has been updated & writers have been doing different things with those concepts. But I doubt you will. Hope you find peace Merlyn...
I've read a lot of reviews here, I usually do, you're not special or something. Just because you're an idiot and can't understand easy stuff doesn't make it "conspiracy theory". Maths are probably conspiracy theories when you're this stupid. And honestly, stop reading. Not comics, just stop reading... anything. If you're this old and you're idiotic enough to believe writers AREN'T trying to convince people of stuff and they're just writing for the hell of it, you're wasting your time.
Seriously, try other activities, it's clear reading isn't for you. You just don't understand anything about writing so let it go, do something else instead.
But since you made me check your account more thoroughly, I also see you're pathetic enough to create another account just to make sure you have a follower. That's just awful, however I look at it. :)) Dumb and pathetic, that's a bad combo.
I recall the writer of the recent retcon of Tim Deake says she spent several minutes on her apartment floor in euphoria when DC aporoved it. She said *it was the only story I could write". Her lofty self perceptions aside she is clearly an activist writer and wrote it to influence people to do things*. Thsts just one blatant example I can cite many many more. Taylor on super aged up superbly is another. So far he's pushed anti 2A and lgbtqrstuvwxtz agendas. Uts not "writing of today" itsactivism
Activism is a pursuit in influencing others to think and behave as the activist would prefer. You know the truth cliffy you just wont acknowledge it because you have a beef with Merlyn.
I don't know what it would be sadder: if he genuinely didn't see this stuff or if he pretends not to. If he doesn't see it then he really should stop reading because it's clear it's not something for him. If he just pretends to, he's just a hypocrite. Dumb or hypocrite. Tough choice.
For some people to believe what they say they do they have to pretend not to know some things.
Imagine that, actively trying to be dumber than you are just to conform to the new normal...
Merlyn, what's it like being the poster child for the Dunning-Kruger effect? Imagine thinking that DC vs Vampires, a book that's going to sell like 30k copies at best, is being used to push an "activist" agenda that's going to change America. Let's do some back of the napkin math. If every single one of those 30k copies is read by the purchaser, that would equal .0001% of the US population, so basically 1 in 10,000 Americans read this book. Seems like a SUPER effective way to push an agenda.
Seems like you don't understand what I'm talking about. Also, stop using terms you can't grasp your mind around, as in the Dunning-Kruger effect. I'm pretty sure you have zero idea what that is and it doesn't make you any smarter. Stick to creating false accounts and stalking me on other websites (which we both know you do). That's more your speed.
Also, let the math and marketing to someone who actually has a functional brain, not a total idiot like you. You don't count the target audience by measuring it up to the total population. Only stupid morons make those types of calculations. Which, in your case, totally tracks. Pleas go kiss Psycamorean's ass since that's your only reason on this website and stop spamming me with your idiotic "thoughts".
I'd LOVE to see you explain how the "Dunning-Kruger effect." Like, I'd actually pay money because you basically just admitted you don't know what it means. BTW, I talk about comics here and on r/comicbooks. That's it. No one on the entire planet cares even an iota about you, especially not enough to follow you around online.
No, I said YOU don't know what it means. See, this is what I'm talking about, you're this stupid, you just don't understand words.
"You don't count the target audience by measuring it up to the total population." That's a lot of words to say ABSOLUTELY nothing. I'd love to see you explain how this comic is reaching an audience larger than .01% of the US population, while pushing it's nefarious, activist agenda. Please show your work
"No one on the entire planet cares even an iota about you" Why are you here commenting then? I don't care about your dumb reviews. Hence, I don't comment on them. You do care, since you constantly come to comment on my reviews.
Moron, you have zero knowledge of marketing, that's what I'm saying, you utter idiotic moron who doesn't understand absolutely anything. Go away, idiot!
So your answer to how DC is pushing an activist agenda through DC vs Vampires is a nebulous "Marketing." I'd love to see all of the pro-vaxx advertising and marketing they did for this series. I bet those shots of Alfred with the needle on the last page were on every news program and child's TV show too!
My answer is it's not the first time you "don't care about me" yet you come here all the time to comment. Why is that? How about you answer that for me?
And because I know you're too stupid to get it, that last sentence was sarcasm you paste-eater.
Ok. I'll answer your question. I comment to push back on the absolute pile of easily disprovable bull shit you type out here every week. Now answer one of my questions please. Explain how marketing helps this book reach more than .0001% of the US population.
That means you lied when you said you didn't care. Liar. See, I see all the time your stupid reviews, you want to know what I do because I really don't care about them since I know an idiot like you has nothing of value to add? I scroll down. You come to comment here, hence you do care.
OMG you're copying your buddy Psycamorean even now. :)))) He's the one who always thinks he "pushes back" against what I say. How pathetic! Grow a spine, you miserable human being and try to be original one second of your life!
And you're so moronic that you don't understand ONE THING I say, why should I educate you? If your parents and school failed you, it's not my job to do so. I told you, you fucking moron, that your "percentage" was wrong because, like the idiot you are, you calculated it for the entire population. Which is wrong because MARKETING tells you that's not how you target your audience. Hence your ".00001" percentage is phony because your grandma won't be reading this, idiot! How can you be this dumb?
If your next comment won't make at least an ounce of sense, please just go away. Learn to read, learn some maths, learn about marketing, learn not to be a total idiot. It's not my job to educate you.
Also, fucking idiot, this book isn't sold just in USA. I can't stop being amazed at how much of an idiot you can be.
So, you're saying my denominator needs to be smaller because "marketing?" 30k books sold STILL means the book has a reach of about 30-40 thousand people. If DC is trying to be "activist" with this title it's not very effective because no one is talking about it. Fucking classic Merlyn though. You make a shitty, completely illogical point, refuse to explain how it makes any sense whatsoever, then insult the other person because they can't bend their mind into a moldy pretzel like yours.
"Also, fucking idiot, this book isn't sold just in USA. I can't stop being amazed at how much of an idiot you can be." So, the denominator would increase then and it would be an even smaller percentage of the world population that this reaches. Holy fuck, talk about shooting yourself in the foot.
That "moldy pretzel" is how business is done. No wonder you kiss ass to socialism since capitalism is much, much too hard for you.
Aaaand we're back to square one. Yeah, socialism definitely is for you. Stupid people usually embrace it. Again, it tracks.
Bro, I don’t care that you call me names at all because you’re so bad at it, but when you completely ignore the argument and only focus on name-calling it’s a sure sign you got your ass handed to you. “mArKeTinG” LOL
Yeah, what's that marketing for a socialist? Trust in the state for it is almighty, screw the markets and their "marketing". Fucking imbecile!
That’s some grade-A Alex Jones stuff right there. Wow. All over a pretty standard superhero/vampire mashup comic too.
Ok, now go and kiss Psycamorean's ass since you don't care anyway what I have to say. It's what you're good at.
I'm pretty sure Tynion and Rosenberg know that sales aren't huge for the book. It's not intended to saturate the national conversation. It's intended for the audience that normally buys books of that nature and they're doing their bit to sell it to that audience. The loaf creates a false premise by attempting to insinuate that one is mistaken in believing the whole nation is the target audience. But that's the kind of empty headed dumb crap one can expect from a loaf.
Right loaf bro?
Mow Taylor on the other hand got national attention with Jon Kent's latest transformation. See how it works loaf bro?
Yeah, great job intentionally misconstruing my argument. If DC is trying to sell an “activist movement” in this specific book then they’re doing a piss poor job because they reached about 30-40k people total. And “marketing” for the issue, and future issues, doesn’t mention anything pro or anti vaxx so they’re not even doing that right. You guys just want to be outraged 24/7 to the point you’ll completely fabricate shit to be angry about and this is a peak example.
Ming, let him be, he's just not capable of understanding basic stuff. Honestly you explained it even better than I could. But it's wasted on him. It's like trying to teach a monkey to spell the alphabet. Actually, I think that's more possible, monkeys are capable of learning stuff, these types of idiots are just hopeless. All they can do is cling on to others to feel like they belong because otherwise they know deep down what morons they are. It's a waste of your time.
“All they can do is cling on to others to feel like they belong because otherwise they know deep down what morons they are.” If you knew what irony was you’d be choking on it.
I know, based on your problems of understanding simple concepts I seriously doubt you do, though. I told you to go kiss your buddy's ass, that's your specialty.
