A great issue which slows down to focus on exploring how past events in this arc have influenced the development of characters, as well as serving as an effective device to strip Batman to its original roots

Such a satisfying change in the Batman books! This issue succeeded in exploring the idea of the new 52 Batman I love from Snyder's run being faced with impossible problems not for Batman to solve normally, which are rarely found in Snyder's crime-focused run as well. As the story develops, some questions regarding Batman's role have been cleverly raised, while the story is also building up the roles for the new characters.

Batman: Rebirth #1 succeeds in functioning as a teaser showing what's in store for Batman next, but due to this function, this issue lacks proper character development and story exploration the usual Batman books have.

Very slow paced, but things are finally about to start

When your greatest ally betrays you and turns the entire world upside down, you'd expect the situation to be most dire as innocent lives are put at stake, but that doesn't seem to be the case here since the so-called heroes didn't even take it seriously.

Too many apparent plot holes were created in the crafting of this story

It could have been better if the book incorporates the debate between determinism and free will as well as how it will affect the world's judicial systems into the conflicts between characters much more
