Archer & Armstrong (2012) #18

Mar 5, 2014

It was a good, not great issue, and I think as we get further into the Sect world things will start to take off more. Still, Van Lente and Perez continue to deliver for me.

Bloodshot (2012) #0

Aug 22, 2013

This issue was super solid. I loved the history of Bloodshot and felt Matt Kindt did a great job bringing action and intrigue back to the title. I also felt ChrisCross was a fantastic fit for the issue. There were also little things I appreciate aesthetically. In particular I really enjoyed the blood splatter that continued through all the pages of the book. I felt that was a small touch that went a long way to adding some personality and flare to the issue.

Bloodshot (2012) #12

Jun 20, 2013

It was a really solid issue, but besides the cow moment, it wasn't super spectacular. It was just a rock solid Bloodshot issue with quality art from Kitson.

Harbinger (2012) #0.2014

It's not bad but it isn't great. It just kind of exists. Maybe that was what they were going for. Meditative tranquility.

Harbinger (2012) #13

It wasn't horrible and had some moments that were good but they sadly got lost in the redundant portions of the book.

Harbinger Wars #1

Apr 4, 2013

It's a really solid book, but it was a little less spectacular than the last issue. Not bad, definitely good, just not great.

Harbinger Wars #2

May 2, 2013

Harbinger Wars is an absolute blast that brings the best of both Harbinger and Bloodshot to the table. What's not to like?

Quantum and Woody: Goat #0

Mar 5, 2014

This is my favorite issue of the year so far, regardless of publisher, and in my opinion the single best issue Valiant has released to date. Beautiful, ridiculous, heartbreaking and about a goat. What else could we want from a comic?

Shadowman #0 was the definition of solid character work.

Shadowman (2012) #7

Jun 6, 2013

Ultimately, all three of the heroic leads would feel important if they were simply given real character depth. We have way more investment in Darque, Baron Samedi and a damn Monkey in a Top Hat so far then we do the lead character, and that continues to be the primary flaw of the book.

Shadowman (2012) #16

A very painful read on all accounts for me. It was like the pages of the issue were made out of the screaming whip for me.

Unity #5

Mar 12, 2014

There's something about Unity that keeps me at arms length, so far, especially when you factor in that this issue felt like a first issue in its near reintroduction of the cast. I know you want to keep a book new reader friendly, but for me, it was a sort of rough way to do that. Overall though, it was a solid issue, and I'm looking forward to the rest of the arc and the development of Dr. Silk.

Unity #6

Apr 11, 2014

CAFU is a beast man. A complete beast. He's got this weird gift of making his work seem both really clean and infused with an old school like feel, but still somehow layering some grit into it. I'm not sure how he does it, but this book really goes to the next level with him on the book, even considering how good Doug Braithwaite was on this book. Whether you're talking about X-O taking on a billion soldiers or the back story for Dr. Silk, this is a guy who can make any scene and situation work, and he's not only one of the better artists working at Valiant, but someone who you can really see growth in since he started working.

X-O Manowar (2012) #10

Feb 20, 2013

This book gets a big fat solid 9.0! This is the best Valiant book of the month without a doubt in my mind. If this book gets any more awesome I'm going to have to make Valiant start covering the cost to replace my socks which keep getting blown off!

X-O Manowar (2012) #16

Aug 22, 2013

I have to say, I am really enjoying the more direct focus of this latest arc. It's playing to Robert Venditti and Lee Garbett's strength, and this issue was pretty rock solid. You have Aric being an arrogant jerk but getting worked (and then working) Eternal Warrior, you have him finding a lady, and you have the return of Alexander Dorian, and Lee Garbett is fantastic on all of it.

X-O Manowar (2012) #23

Mar 19, 2014

I feel like if Nord needs a break Bernard would be great as a permanent fill in. I also would agree that this is easily in the top three from Valiant for me. This book was once rather maligned by us but flipped some time ago and since that time has not looked back. This is title is consistently entertaining.
