As much as I've been enjoying Absolute Power so far, there's been one cloud hanging over the whole thing Amanda Waller. She's evolved into the main villain of the DCU, cutting deals with every evil force possible to bring an end to the age of heroes. It's an impressive plot but the character doing it bears little resemblance to the one famously developed by Ostrander and Yale as a ruthless and pragmatic spymaster. So it falls on John Ridley to bridge the gap and try to make sense of this new version of Waller. Read Full Review
This marks a strong start and a worthy addition to "Absolute Power." Read Full Review
Absolute Power: Origins #1 was underwhelming to be honest. There are a couple of highlights, but Waller's motivations don't work for me. Although, I am interested in what happens next based on how the issue ended. On to the next one. Read Full Review
Very good motivation for Amanda provided here. She's been a looming threat in the DC Universe for ages now, and I really appreciate this delving into her past. This had some pretty solid art as well, but Ridley's story is what really shines here. Of course, it could have been better, but I'm pretty happy with what we've gotten so far.
Desperate for real Waller characterization. Absolutely starved.
Very solid companion book to absolute power and building up Wallers character. If you hate her and she is ruini by the eye for you you prob won’t care for this but it does flesh out the character and motivations a little more and her origins.
None of these timelines match a thing. Her start should’ve happened way before Batman appeared. It could’ve worked if they showed her power hungry prior to heroes appearing. But I’m mad at masks because a drug dealer killed my family doesn’t check out.
