"The Final Days of Superman" continues as two Supermen meet at last: pre-New 52 Superman meets the current Kal-El. But solar Superman wants to be the only Man of Steel left standing. And divided they may fall as one Clark Kent must choose the safety of his family before either version of himself.
The cliffhanger at the end while not the best cliffhanger ever, still entices the reader for the next issue, but overall excellent storytelling continues with huge consequences for the future of the DC Universe, so who cant love it! Bring on Part 7!! Read Full Review
Only Diana's line at the beginning felt off. To be honest, if it was in a thought bubble, if she was thinking 'I wish I had time alone with him in these last moments but I understand why he is doing what he is doing' I would have applauded. But to say it out loud? Brrrr.... Still, The Final Days of Superman has been the best arc running through all the books for some time. I shouldn't let minor problems outweigh the overall excellence. The cliffhanger may not have me at the edge of my seat, but dang it, this is good storytelling. Superman continues to pull at our heart strings as he slowly dies and the story has gotten a hell of a lot more interesting with multiple Supermen converging. Read Full Review
With several threads converging in a most exciting manner, I would have to say this is the best chapter of the crossover in weeks. Great Rao, I can't wait to see what happens next week when the story continues inSuperman/Wonder Woman#29. Read Full Review
While it's great to see a story, before Rebirth, that isn't just trying to quickly wrap everything up and actually gives the readers something worthwhile, while sowing the seeds of the future of the Superman titles. There is a bit of redundancy here, for those who haven't been reading the other parts of this story, but overall, this is a satisfying and fun read and does what every comic should do: it makes you want to read more. Regardless if you've read the other parts of this story, I would recommend checking this issue out. Read Full Review
Tomasi and crew's hands are tied until Rebirth. All we are getting are snippets of whats to come in the future. The Final Days of Superman story arc is like the teaser to the teaser trailer of the pending trailer. Read Full Review
While not the perfect issue, I found myself enjoying certain aspects, and Tomasi looks to have a solid grasp on Superman, in all his many forms. Read Full Review
I'm not as in-love with “Final Days” as I was initially, but I don't dislike it, either. Tomasi's characterizations of the Clarks and Bruce are still excellent, even if I don't get as much of it all as I want. Eaton and Eaglesham may have some consistency issues, but there wasn't much time to dwell on that during my initial read, as their layouts and storytelling capabilities do a fine job of conveying the tension and action that Tomasi is aiming for. In the end, I suspect this arc will turn out to be a two-month springboard intoRebirth, but if so, it's been an enjoyable one. It may not be quite what was initially solicited, or even what it seemed to be in its early chapters, but this arc is a fun, exciting experience thus far, andAction Comics #52 is a capable installment. At this point "The Final Days of Superman" will go down in history as a flawed crossover at best. In some ways, it's just the shot in the arm this franchise needed. In other ways, it suffers from the same problem so many Superman crossover have in the past - poor pacing and too much exposition among them. Still, there's enough that works in this issue to suggest that Tomasi is the right creator to take over the relaunched Superman comic this summer. Read Full Review
As much as I want to like 'Final Days Of Superman', this was not the send off that "Action Comics" of the New 52 deserved. Read Full Review
So what does "Action Comics" #52 accomplish? Mainly, it's there to introduce the continued existence of pre-New 52 Superman to Batman, Wonder Woman and anyone who hasn't been reading, "Superman: Lois and Clark." Other than that, it's really just a chance to get ready for another confrontation and enjoy some good-looking artwork. I wish there was a little more to this comic, though, especially since those earlier chapters were so gripping. The final chapters might hopefully get back up to that level, but -- for the moment -- this issue is decidedly middle-of-the-road. Read Full Review
While this chapter of the Final Days of Superman finally gets the New 52 and Pre-Flashpoint Supermen together, it is brief and rather anti-climactic. Almost everything else in this issue goes against what we've already seen, is just more recap or feels a bit off. The art was great and that's the only thing that kept this issue from getting an even worse score. The Final Day can't come quick enough. Read Full Review
This highly anticipated issue was an inconsistent, anticlimactic, and superficial hodgepodge that fell well short of expectations. Read Full Review
In trying to get us to the finish line that is the end of the "New 52," DC is really limping along. While Batman has gotten a fairly succinct finish to this era of DC publishing, Superman's final days are spent much like the first ones - a varied, scattershot approach that doesn't serve the characters or creators as well as it should. This storyline is a mess and one that readers will, no doubt, want to move on from. But why should they have any faith that DC will handle the Man of Steel correctly in the next go-around? Completists won't mind flipping through this one but more casual fans might just want to wait for Rebirth. Read Full Review
We are now six issues into the mammoth "Last Days of Superman" crossover and we still don't have much to show for it. While Peter J. Tomasi mines some nice and in character interaction from Superman, Wonder Woman, and Batman, he is still hobbled by having to once again spin the wheels of this plot in order keep the story spread thin across the Superman line. A little underwhelming with the meeting of the two supermen! With that said the storytelling is what got this crossover back on track, it's going to be Interesting about the interaction got g forward!
Ya know in hindsight, reading The Final Days of Superman in one go instead of in chapters probably would've been a better experience. Reading it in chapters with choppy scenes and cliffhanger endings is kinda irksome. The meeting between the Supermen isn't what I expected at all. And so far all the older Superman does is fly around and save his wife and kid. I feel bad for New 52 Superman, nobody really liked this version and now they're taking their time slowly killing him. I woulda spared myself the misery and asked for a Kryponite bullet to the head.
