I can definitely see how this book seems pretty sparse, and this review appears to be coming in with faith for the future rather than just this issue stand-alone. That being said, it wouldn't be fair to the creators of this book to pass over a faster chapter because it's fast. In that sense, the chapter still contains the craft and skill they have. This issue was a lot of fun and has added yet another book to my pull list. The only trait this could improve from is personal, that being slightly more knowledge in the BPRD universe. However, all this issue made me do was want to go back and catch up. |

Im not 100% how Doyle and Tynion are breaking up the writing duties; if maybe one is scripting and the other plotting, or if each are doing both. As a diehard Hellblazer fan, it may not be what I loved from the original series, but I still found myself enjoying it, for the art alone. The story here was first an origin tale for Magog and a battle between the three which I previously mentioned. The biggest plus of the issue for me is Tomasis character moments in these two scenes. Firstly, Tomasi makes Magog a much more viable and well fleshed out flawed man than I thought he was pre New 52, in that he harbors some anger toward Superman and Wonder Woman for not saving everyone during the War against Darkseid. Even though the rest of the issue is a big fight (more or less) with the last page showing whos controlling Magogs rage, Tomasi inserts great moments between Superman and Wonder Woman. What I love about these is that basically Superman wants to help Diana in fighting Magog, even though Magog is powered by magic, one of the only things that Superman is damaged by. Diana more or less says, "stop being a macho idiot, I am the God of War, let me do what I do best and kick this guys ass." I love seeing a strong Wonder Woman coming out on top against the st |

While the story could be argued as generic, the art is very strong and this brought back the Superman I love. For those, like me, missing that character, I would urge them to check this out. |

All in all, this was a solid issue, but I wasn't particularly grabbed by the story. If anything, I'd come back for Starlin's artwork. However, since one of the main characters became an issue for me, I think I'll just wait until it's on Marvel Unlimited. |

This book was a lot of fun for me, and if you love this genre I mentioned, you should seek it out. If hesitant, I would recommend grabbing this either with issue 2 when it comes out, or just reading both together. Either way, I enjoyed this very much, and Im glad I took a chance on it. |

The Bounty #1
Jul 7, 2016 |
For a book that had a lot going against it in terms of my tastes, Bounty was full of nice surprises. With the introduction of what looks to be a main antagonist (with a striking resemblance to a character from Saga) at the end of the issue, I would recommend this book if any of the story points I gave above strike you. |

I cannot praise this book enough. It makes sense that this is a companion book to Afterlife With Archie, and it certainly can be argued that, so far, this story is stronger. Robert Hack should be looked at as one of the best in the business, and I sure hope that this is only the beginning for him. |

As you can tell, I cannot say enough good about this series. To me, this is the best comic in years, and the best work of the Brubaker and Phillips team. When this is collected in a nice Deluxe hardcover, its a must own for any readers collection. |

If you havent jumped on board already, I urge you to start buying DCs The Flintstones, with this issue. To me, this is one of the most important and exciting books on the stands. While Steve Pugh will always be missed if hes not present on an issue, this was still a great read, and well worth the cover price. |

Image has another big hit with this first issue, and may even lead to one of its strongest title, along with the likes of Saga and Southern Bastards. In addition, Aaron proves, yet again, whe he may just be the best writer in comics right now. This is not an issue you will want to miss. |

For value, this might be the best place for it on the stands this week. While having the 3.99 price point, this gifts you a double sized book for the price of one. On top of that, Van Lente is crafting an interesting story, which found a perfect home at Dark Horse. Lets hope, as I expect it to, that the art gets back on track with issue 2. |

I tend to think that Wonder Woman is one of my favorite DC characters, and maybe that explains this viscerally strong negative reaction. That, and this was an oversized issue that was actually a standard issue and a back up. After this issue, the relaunch cannot come fast enough. |
