THE GOOD:

-This was a wonderful issue.

-Dead Eyes is just a super compelling and likable character.

-The art is so wonderful. I love everything about it.

-The MRI scene was just so good.

-I liked the addition of the laughing gas to the hospital room scene. It wasn't much, but it added a little fun and variety to a pretty bland action scene. more

it's absolutely amazing the level of emotion that Grant Morrison is able to achieve with a series of splash pages, chronicling in reverse, the life of one of Klaus' mortal allies, with absolutely no dialogue.

Overall this final issue was underwhelming as most of Kings recent issues. Thomas Wayne was beaten way too easily- with a kick in his back by Catwoman, that’s it. And it also made no sense, that The Ventriloquist cant be controlled by Psycho Pirate, well just because. There is no reason for that. I also think it sucks how badly Alfred was treated in this run/ final issue. Instead of mourning him more

I was initially not going to read this because I'm hardly a fan of Scott Snyder's writing, but then I heard a podcast where Charles Soule and Scott Snyder discussed it. And it sounded like a really cool idea, and that idea kinda sorta exists in this first issue, but it's hardly there. I'm sure that won't be true with the next issue, as it had to have some set up. 7.5 is about right for me, given the tremendous hype-job. I'm intrigued, and I'm giving it all the opportunity in the world to wow me. It just feels like the kind of comic that's going to routinely get 10s because of critics wanting there to be political commentary that just isn't there. Like King's Batman and literary snobs.

YourGreenMuse - Nov 7, 2019

I'm so hyped for the concept that the creators described. It's just not there so far. Maybe next issue. And yeah, people will find a lot in nothing to justify liking what they like.
