You Don't Read Comics - Russ Bickerstaff

She’s had so many different lives over the years...and she’s essentially managed to stay herself through each of the different incarnations...at least three of which seem to be present in the current DC Universe. Tamaki would be really, really good at delivering an ongoing Barbara Gordon series that found her moving trom Babs to Oracle to Batgirl and back. Barbara is so many things. Jul 08, 2026Barbara Gordon: Breakout #3 is unfortunately continuing to lose its ground as another issue comes around that feels like a retread of the previous issue. Ultimately it feels like this and the previous issue should’ve been one mega issue, as they deal with the same themes. For this mystery story to make any progress, Tamaki needs to begin allowing Barbara to do what she does best instead of sidelining her and keeping the story at a halt. Read Full Review

Still suffering from pacing issues and a lack of plot movement. IMO, Tamaki is running out of time to give her plot some legs. The end of this issue does offer some hope tho and the next issue better take full advantage, or I think this series is gonna be a wrap for me.

This was pretty...alright, I guess. I didn't think this was bad, but I am finding myself losing interest fast. Nahuelpan's interiors Bonvillain's colors look very nice here, but the story just felt...strange? Not really sure where this is going at all, and I'm not saying that in a "this could go a lot of interesting routes" way. I just, genuinely, am not really sure what the direction of the book is after this issue.

This issue is terrible. I was semi interested in the plot laid out in issue #1. Barbara , as part of Batman's plans lets herself get caught to investigate murders at Vandals Prison. how the prison this scale came into being so fast, and all that...its comics. We seemed to have forgotten all of that stuff. Barbara is popping pills given to her by someone random character, why for someone so brilliant she sure is trusting. the book offers nothing. in fact is this is just more pages from the previous issue? does Mariko have a story to tell?? you can entirely avoid this issue because nothing happens.save your $3.99.

Just a comment... how many issues is this series planned to have? Because if it's 12 or more, it's going to be hell to keep up with. We have 3 issues and the pacing problems are visible. the story itself is okay, but it seems to be dragging on until bad seeds happen.
