Yeah but at least Failsafe didn't take at least a year of buildup like the rest of them did.
A BRAND-NEW VILLAIN STALKS THE STREETS OF GOTHAM CITY! When we last left Bruce Wayne he was offered a mysterious youth serum, known only as Sangraal, that promises to rejuvenate his body and mind--making him as strong and nimble as he once was. But can he possibly accept this strange gift? Meanwhile, the sinister, scalpel-fingered villain known as ...
THE TEAM UNCOVERS THE NINTH DAY CULT'S DEADLY SECRETS! Things have gone sideways in the Birds of Prey's investigation of the Ninth Day cult, and the Birds' undercover operative, Cassandra Cain, has gone deathly silent. The team going in to break her out are heavy hitters of the highest order--Black Canary, Big Barda, Grace Choi, and Onyx--with Orac...
Slow moving plot. Literally the only movement comes from pink hair girl's exposition. We learn what the monster thing is, it's origin, annnd it's (apparent) motive for coming after Barbara.
Needless to say, that is way too much to reveal in chit-chat from some random OC.
Sans Cela's convenient narrative, the plot has no meaningful movement
It's Barda's world now, and we're all just living in it. As the Birds search for Barbara inside the mysterious portal that keeps changing (and also trying to kill them), separating enemy from ally is getting harder than ever--and more important than ever.
This issue was chugging along, with its usual problems - pacing too fast, narration doesn't match scenes, Selina knows too much, people believe / care too much about Selina for no reason, everyone has the same voice, the villains aren't credible - but mostly I thought it was ok. And then I got to the last scene. And Selina's plan is to ally with a cannibal??? Who literally eats people as his thinmore
THE FINAL ACT OF NINE LIVES BEGINS HERE! Catwoman is dead meat. With a certifiable cutthroat and cannibalistic cabal of criminals converging on Catwoman, the feline femme fatale finds herself searching the ends of the earth for an ally in her struggle. But first she'll have to escape from her current predicament: a deadly black site prison.
Nothing much happens. (Extra point for slight intrigue about some of the breadcrumbs the comic does drop.)
If the Birds of Prey have one mission, it's protect Barbara Gordon at all costs, and that mission is...not going great. Dinah and her team search for Barbara in this strange new world that seems specifically designed to trip them up. Many mysteries lurk in the dark of this world, and some of them don't even want to kill you...probably.
Isn't this the fourth time in four years that Gotham has fallen to a warlord in a personal war with Batman? Bane, Joker, Scarecrow, and now Failsafe.
Failsafe has taken his family, his allies, and now his city...Broken and beaten, Batman retreats to the last place on Earth he can hide...but nothing can truly hide from Failsafe!
In the backup...Batman has prepared his mind for anything, or so he thought. We go back to his early days and a chilling case that led to...Failsafe!
i don’t have to justify my opinion, i like it that’s it and unlike you i’m not so arrogant to think my opinion it’s better than everybody else’s.
Just an observation that this title keeps circling back to a particular story a lot recently. If you haven't read all of those other stories then it doesn't make a difference. If you like this style of Gotham Under Siege Dark Knight Rises story then it doesn't make a difference. But if you're reading this as a continuing series why don't four sieges in recent history seem to have a cumulative effect?
They say love is when two hearts find their happy place right next to each other, but to Heartless, that's just the wall of jars of hearts he has in his back office. As Dick and Babs's two hearts do find their happy place next to each other, one question they ask each other proves difficult to answer.
Pretty sure this will be the lowest score I’ll give Taylor’s Nightwing. It was terrific before Tyrion’s nothing-event infected the whole Bat-line. He’s not a bad writer, just a bad Batman writer. I wish him the best but as a DC fan I won’t miss him. It will be great to have Taylor writing the book he wants to be writing again because that book has been dynamite.
Nightwing and Babs have fought through the fear-stricken Gotham streets, but now their fight takes them to the skies above Gotham, with the Batgirls and Tim Drake (Robin) in tow! Now aboard the Magistrate’s Skybase-01, they have made it their mission to bring the airborne leviathan down, prevent Seer’s disinformation from being broadcast, and s...
It’s a fight for the soul of the city! Now that Dick Grayson has inherited more money than he could possibly need, he has an idea on how he can help the city with it-and it’s time for him to announce it to the world! But with Blüdhaven's so beyond saving, what idea does he have that could possible save it? Meanwhile, an unexpected figure comes...
1.I’m getting a little tired of some fans saying Taylor is a bad writer. I’m not sure that anyone is writing a better series than this one, possibly at any company. He has also made me a fan of Jonathan Kent and even of him in the Superman role in one issue flat. I didn’t think any writer capable of that. The guys is shitting gold lately. DC should give him the run of the place or at least gmore

@Weird Science Jim. No one is complaining about you. They're complaining about the obvious review bombing from newly made accounts, and that one idiot who thinks everything is an attack on his precious Trump.
Not gonna get deep into the Afghanistan pullout because nuance is dead here, but "Afghani" is a currency. Calling the Afghan people "Afghanis" is basically telling everyone in the room that you don't know anything about the conflict.
This is a great issue of a superhero comic that I'm sure will get a lot of shit for having a hero that cares about people in it.

Dick Grayson’s always had a big heart. From protecting those persecuted by bullies in his youth, to combating evil alongside Batman as Robin, to pledging his newly inherited wealth to enriching Blüdhaven as Nightwing-his kindness and generosity have always guided his life. But now a new villain stalks the back alleys of Blüdhaven, removing the ...
I think James Tynion got bitten by radioactive exposition when he was a youth.
Because that's what his stories boil down to. Tons of exposition where he builds and builds his world. The action is an afterthought that mostly takes place off stage.
The result are stories that go nowhere, aren't interesting to read once everything is done and depends on his characters.

Batman goes undercover to infiltrate the transhumanist gang known as the Unsanity Collective and learn more about their sudden appearance in Gotham. And what nefarious plans does Simon Saint have for Arkham Day survivor Sean Mahoney? How does it connect to the Magistrate?

Yes, I agree with you @Mingthemerciless in regards to Tyrion compulsively and carelessly playing characters. I think Gosthmaker lacks a lot to be Deathpool hahaha your comment was funny. And to my liking being that Tynion is doing a lot of damage to Batman.
Personally, I think that DC is experimenting and what they are doing is very messy and desperate. And I don't understand why Tynion is doing a decent job on the Joker and not Batman. Zdarsky may be balancing DC's books a bit, but the idea of putting in bad stories to drive up prices from my perspective only ruins the book.
Dick Grayson has inherited Alfred’s fortune, a puppy, and a whole lot of questions. Who is Mayor Zucco, and what is her relation to the man who murdered Dick’s parents? What sinister plans does Blockbuster have for Blüdhaven? What kind of dog food is best for a three-legged puppy? To answer these questions, Dick’s going to need a little help...
I'm falling more in love with Fernando Blanco's Selina Kyle each Issue. She looks wilder in these first few pages, then transforms into a fashion icon the second she goes undercover. Blanco's Catwoman is sexy and sensual. She is comfortable in her own skin and her transformations throughout the pages exist for her comfort and her advantage. It's simply enjoyable to look at.

The Riddler revealed that he knows details about Poison Ivy’s whereabouts. Now, after the Riddler has been gravely wounded, Catwoman brings him to be patched up by Alleytown’s less-than-scrupulous medics. Now on the mend, Riddler points Selina in Ivy’s direction-but is he telling the truth, or wrapping her up in another one of his riddles? Me...
Another bore from Taylor's Nightwing, it had all the tropes of his writing. I swear I've seen this comic written by him ten times over by now, he just changes the names of the characters. And his humor continues to be as cringey as it can get. That said, the art was fabulous, this, just like Cantwell's Iron Man, seems to be a way better comic if you just let the art tell the story without the writmore

Preach! Bruce pours lots of money into Gotham. Hell, he keeps Wayne Enterprises - a global corporation - headquartered in Gotham, even though he doesn't have to. He does it because he knows Gotham's economy would hurt if WE left the city. I get tired of people who don't know what they're talking about bashing Bruce "for not doing enough".
It's a shame Dick is being written as hostile to Bruce's wealth because few people should know better than Dick all the things Bruce has done to help Gotham. (Not to mention there's a bit of hypocrisy, considering he benefited from Bruce's wealth.)
I am actually really liking this. It's odd that this is called "The Joker", but that is my only gripe with this. Sure I'm annoyed that Bane was killed but after King's run, it's not a big deal for me, as that ruined so many things about Bane.
What's more odd is that Tynion is writing this very well. This is so much better than the current Batman run or Joker War. And I'm so much more in more

I'm shocked to say it but Tynion is really good here, it's like he's not the same guy who writes Batman, he's awful on that book. March continues to excel with his work.

Nah, the good thing is that it's more of a Gordon book. The Punchline story takes very few pages and even though I don't really care about the character at all, it's not that bad. Not good, but not bad either.
Being more of a Gordon book is definitely of more interest to me. The court of owls is also the last thing I enjoyed from Snyder. But Punchingbag holds zero interest for me. If the next issue looks ok I may bite the bullet and get into the series. I need my Batman fix since the 2 main books are dreadful right now.
Rafa Sandoval is a great artist, that's a fact. But the story sucks. Teen Titan was one of the worst Future State titles, but DC still thought it was a good idea to make this series. None of the new characters is interesting, as a teenager I can say that Tim Sheridan tackled the stereotypes most teenagers hate, we hate this stereotypes because the most annoying teenagers are exactly like that and more
Welcome to Teen Titans Academy! Packed with both new, super-powered teens and numerous dark secrets, Teen Titans Academy’s student body includes Shazam; a new Australian speedster; a trio of Goth(am) teen expatriates obsessed with Batman-and one member of this first class will become the deadly Red X. Amazing first issue of this new run. And I love Dick and Babs dynamics, I hope to see how continue growing their relation and retake their marriage looked in Death Metal.

This is JUST the fresh start Nightwing needs! Great art (maybe the best ever?), great writing, seemingly great supporting cast. Really looking forward to the Dick/Babs relationship and it seems like Blockbuster is well written again! Man some fans/readers are salty as hell. Lol
Honestly after years of mediocre to down right trash Nightwing issues for the past couple of years. Nice to finally get my #1 favorite comic book character back to prominence like he should be.

Don't mind them. I hate toxic Nightwing fans. They are so traumatized that their entitlement becomes irrational.
They're salty Scott Lobdell fans from /co/, and triggering them is so much fun.
An incredibly heart-warming start to this new run of Nightwing. The issue has everything from amazing illustrations, colours and just as amazing writing. It even manages to plant seeds for the plot among all the emotion present in this issue.
A very good start with wonderful promise. It's a good time to be a Nightwing fan and a great starting point if you're looking to be one.

HA! maybe Lobdell is reading this now, it's like this person can't get over Lobdell's Nightwing. Dan Jurgens didn't do very well either. He should be happy that this disastrous stage is over. In short, all with his fixations and bitterness. Next.

I'll be honest, I couldn't care less about Joker or Punchline. However it was nice to see Gordon back after his extended absence from the Bat-books

The main story with Jim Gordon is actually well done, but I could not give a shit about that Punchline backup.

There wasn't anything to liek or dislike. I'm starting to get bored by this run.
At least when I was reading King's run, I felt something. Anger and disappointment yes, but it was something.
This is just eh.

myself, i prefer "eh" over the frustration of what "Ding-A-Ling" King was doing to Batman. 😂😂😂
Main story is garbage. Secondary story should have been the main Tynion needs to go. Save your money kids.
