Geek Dad - Ray Goldfield Aug 14, 2024

There is so much going on in each issue of this mini that it almost feels overwhelming, and some plots do get lost in the shuffle along the way. But the visuals are stunning, the plot advances briskly, and there is a chilling cliffhanger that indicates that a major figure from DC lore might be about to make his appearance but not in the way one might expect. The new Elseworlds line is off to a pretty strong start so far. Read Full Review

Rather than committing to the originals stuffy urban claustrophobia, The Kryptonian Age explores other aspects of its time as it builds a potential Justice League. Read Full Review

The Comicbook Dispatch - Dispatchdcu Aug 14, 2024

While the issue does a good job of setting up future conflicts, it also feels somewhat rushed, with too many plot points crammed into a single issue. The pacing is uneven, and some characters, like Selina Kyle, are underutilized. Overall, Batman: Gotham by Gaslight – The Kryptonian Age #3 is an enjoyable read that expands the scope of the series. While it has its flaws, the intriguing plot developments and stunning artwork make it a worthwhile addition to the series. Fans of the DC Universe and the original Gotham by Gaslight will appreciate this unique blend of genres. The introduction of new characters and the growing tension between the heroes promise an exciting conclusion to the series. Read Full Review

The Batman Universe - Gareth Turner Aug 20, 2024

As to be expected, the terrific team behind this book has delivered another excellent issue both expanding and fleshing out the world of the 19th century DC Universe. While some narrative choices raise concerns for where this story is headed and the Wonder Woman exposition dumb could've been handled better, you'd be hard pressed to find a more intelligent and well produced comic on store shelves today. Perhaps the best compliment that I can give is that this comic doesn't feel like a Batman comic but rather a classic pulp story that still has plenty of mystery left to unravel. Read Full Review

Weird Science - Gabe Hernandez Aug 15, 2024

Batman: Gotham By Gaslight - The Kryptonian Age #3 heaps on all kinds of cool Easter Eggs, twists on familiar characters and events, and a super curious cliffhanger for the strongest issue in the maxiseries yet. That said, the least interesting thing about this comic is everything surrounding Batman and Gotham City, so the result doesn't live up to expectations. Read Full Review

    Batman-News - Chip Ross Aug 15, 2024

This whole book feels like an extended cameo fest. A quick "ooh look at this character in this world and then moving on. I'm waiting and hoping for the threads to start being woven into a bigger tapestry so we can start focusing on some individual stories. The amount trying to be put into this book honestly detracts from the overall quality of the book and doesn't allow me to give it a high rating. Read Full Review

I'm not as high on this book as most people. I think it's average. Since when can the lasso of truth show people visions? And Diana being royalty would never kneel to someone else who isn't royalty. The Sleeper Awakens is kind of silly, but let's see what happens with it. The single interaction between Batman and Catwoman is good. Do we really need Green Lantern in this story? Probably not. It already feels drawn out and it's only issue 3. Imagine issue 12.
