How do you stop a killer who feels nothing: no pain, no emotion a killer who believes their actions only make the world a better, more beautiful place by exposing the literal and figurative ugliness of the rich and powerful? The more important question for Batman as he squares off with Manray...what if he can't stop him?
Ridley crafts a riveting narrative that does not disappoint. Read Full Review
I Am Batman continues to become a stronger title as it continues, finding its own distinctive voice and direction that makes it stand out from the other Batman books in the line. Somehow a grounded Batman and the cops style book works far better than one might have assumed that it would. Read Full Review
I Am Batman is becoming a consistently enjoyable read. It'd be one of those titles I'd strongly encourage readers to check out if it didn't feel so limited by the crutch of Jace (and Ridley) feeling like he needed to be Batman to thrive. Read Full Review
Jace still feels a bit like a supporting character in his own bookhe became Batman so quickly that he doesn't feel fully establishedbut there's real potential here. Read Full Review
While I was hesitant about another pro-cop Batman book, I think that the creative team has shown a willingness to take risks and they paid off this week. Read Full Review
This issue had a rather surprising conclusion, but it provides a great springboard that Ridley will undoubtedly use to propel the story forward. Ridley's doing a fantastic job so far at establishing Jace as a hero that has the trappings of Batman but has an individual style that's all his own. Read Full Review
While I Am Batman continues to be a great book overall, this issue feels like it missed the mark this month with an issue that's pacing feels stuck on fast-forward to get us to the end and set up new drama for our heroes. The art is great though but the progression of Manray's reign of terror felt completely sidelined. Read Full Review
I was going to give this book a higher score, but I don't think I can. I've been reading Jace's comics for over 19 issues now, and I've been waiting, waiting, waiting for this book to hit its stride. I don't want to wait any more. I'll keep remembering how much fun I had with his first issue in Future State, and I hope I read something of his that captures that feeling once again but in the mean time, I cannot recommend I Am Batman to anyone but those who have a lot of expendable income, and a very patient nature. For now, that'll be my last word on the subject. Read Full Review
Comics don’t get much better than this...
I wasn't quite as into this as the past two issues, but the story here is still very enjoyable. I think part of it can be attributed to the fact that I don't really know how I feel about how this ended, but I'm still very interested to see how this story will progress. The art continues to be solid as well. This is just a good book all around.
