Overall, this was one of the more interesting issues of Robin War, which has been a bit underwhelming. There's a lot happening here with the new Gray Son and new Talons that really grabs the reader in to get ready for the finale. Robin War takes a pretty interesting swerve at the end of this issue, kicking things up a notch. But the twist also kind of turns most of the story into chaff. Still, that twist more than makes up for any bad bits. Read Full Review
Things are luckily kicked up a notch in the third act when a major villain who doesn't appear often makes their presence known and the new "Gray Son" is revealed. I was just hoping for more developments with this being the penultimate chapter of the crossover. Be sure to come back in two weeks when the event concludes in the pages ofRobin War#2. If you enjoy We Are Robin, which you should as it's an interesting concept they should have done ages ago, and are a fan of books interacting more, then is will be right up your alley. Nothing in particular stands out and the art is cartoony, competent, not particularly striking, but it's not objectively bad in any sense. Read Full Review
While this isn't the best Robin War tie-in that we've gotten so far, it does manage to move the story further than the previous two chapters to this event and moving is something that I can really get behind at this point. But when it's all said and done, the only reason to really read this issue is for the cliffhanger because the rest of it is full of a Talon side story that I don't fully understand because it just came out of nowhere. This was a real low point for “Robin War”. I've greatly enjoyed this story arc up till now, but part 5 fails to deliver. The art was below standard and the story was overly stuffed, which in turn caused jarring transitions and unexplored shifts in character outlooks. Read Full Review
Robin: Son of Batman #7 is a mess. As the big climax to this event, it feels so rushed and jumbled in its storytelling. Things don't make sense or feel properly built up to. The writing is lacking, the continuity is an utter mess, and the artwork just doesn't look good. I'm hoping that Tom King can save this event with the final issue next month, because Robin War is looking very dire currently. Read Full Review
I expected much more from "Robin: Son of Batman" #7; the creators involved are normally much better than this, and this storyline had such a strong opening. Maybe things will right themselves in the big conclusion, but -- for now -- "Robin War" has become a series of diminishing returns. Read Full Review
The artist isn't good.
A low-point in the series. Damian disappears from the action really early in the story and no one comments on it at all for 80% of the comic, and then we get the reveal page... which is such a plot-hole you could sail the USS Nimitz through it.
