Oct 07, 2026Superman The Stranger is quickly shaping up to be the Man of Steel equivalent of Frank Miller’s The Dark Knight Returns. It’s bold, unsettling, and challenges what readers expect from a Superman story with its noir spin and Craig and Wordie’s evocative art deco style. This is the Superman story you must read! Oct 07, 2026Superman: The Stranger #2 is a fantastic continuation of Wes Craig’s six-issue series set in 1938! A return to the early days, this story is a Superman story in its simplest form. Add on a politically charged plot, this series is set to be an instant classic! Read Full Review

Comic Book Clique - Frank Jarome
Oct 11, 2026Superman: The Stranger #2 is another terrific installment of a title that brings us a very different take on Superman. The 1930s setting is an important part of the story and not just window dressing, and this version of Clark Kent is one that you can't help but feel for. He's lonely and awkward, and that's not going to be helped by the dreams he keeps having that seem to be pushing him in a more "conqueror" direction. He's got a long way to go until he becomes like the Superman we know and love today, but it's fascinating watching him find his way. Read Full Review

Oct 12, 2026So yes, the politics are still here but not as grating as in the first issue. I like this novice Superman figuring things out. But it is the page layouts and art that really make this book sing. One of those books I thumbed through immediately after I read it. Read Full Review

The core of every true story is heart. This tale takes us back to a raw , more savage time with a villain that bleeds power. In it's rawness, this story beats like no Superman story has for years. The art is noir and pulls the pages to you. You get inside his mind. His fears , his faith and his contempt for all things corrupt, but alas he is still headstrong and vulnerable............ exquisite....JM

I love this. But I’m hesitant to give it a 10 because of The 9 full page adds that distributed the reading experience.
This book should not have ads. Why did the Batman First Knight and Batman Second Knight not have ads but this does? Both are black label. Deadman, Jonah hex and demon didn’t have any ads disrupting the story. Wtf. -
