A new storm rumbles on the horizon. Those left standing in its wake will long remember the day the God of War came to West Texas. The time for talking is done. The battle for Valofax begins here.
Frankly, I don’t have a bad thing to say about this issue and saying much else would spoil all the fun. If you’re not already reading God Country, go pick up the first four issues immediately, and if you’re already reading, I know you’re having as much fun as everyone involved, myself included. God Country just keeps getting better with every issue, bringing more to the table with each iteration. I'm not sure what string of adjectives I need to use to make everyone read this title, but I'll keep trying. God Country shatters the very existence of any excuse you have for not reading it, so for God's Sake go read the damn thing. Read Full Review
Issue #5 of God Country delivers on the all out war from the previous issue and Emmett has to decision to make and what is best for his family. The creative team on God Country has truly delivered an epic story thus far and with only one more issue to go, it will interesting where they take the Quinlan family and if they can stick the proverbial landing in concluding this series. Everything comes to a head and with one more issue to go Texas will never be the same again. Read Full Review

Keeping up the quality. Love it.
The opening pages of this issue do a good job showing parallels between the war god who has watched everything around him crumble with age and Emmett, who experienced the same thing. Later, Emmett echoes this war god's reluctance to give up the power to fight time that Valofax is. Donny Cates has crafted a really interesting story here, and Geoff Shaw's art captures the epic and the down to earth with equal skill. I'm sad this is ending, but excited to see how it all wraps up.
An issue that delves deeper in to the motives of some of the characters, along with setting up an ending that I feel may end in some sort of melancholic sadness. I am interested in seeing if the success of this series warrants Image and Donny Cates to create a new running series of God Country.
