Nerd Initiative - Matthew Roth May 28, 2025

The Ghost Machine crew has done a terrific job giving us a character to loathe and hate in Pranky which then causes us to excuse the faults of Mr. X-Ray and the other residents of Hyde Street. Between the visuals and Geoff's work on the script, I cannot help but be immersed in this world and want to help bring this villain down. Hyde Street #6 has catapulted this run to perhaps my favorite horror run to date. Read Full Review

You Don't Read Comics - Russ Bickerstaff May 28, 2025

Now that things are well and fully moving, Johns and company are able to explore the bigger aspects of Hyde Street, which could be great fun. Johns has delivered such a rich and textured ensemble on Hyde Street. It would be really cool to see a whole universe of Hyde Street titles with interlocking crossovers and things, but there just isnt the kind of readership that would allow for that. Johns has a nice, little universe that hes built for this series. Too bad there isnt quite enough room for it all to fill its own covers on the rack. Read Full Review

This gives him the chance to name-drop a few intriguing characters we haven't met yet including Dr. Ego, Sister Hood, and movie matinee idol Raquel Vane. Hopefully, future issues will introduce us to these new faces and explore their stories. Read Full Review

Lyles Movie Files - Jeffrey Lyles May 29, 2025

Hyde Street 6 could prove a big turning point in the title as Mr. X-Ray now has a strategy to get him back to his daughter. Now he just has to make sure to take out Pranky before Pranky realizes he's on his radar. Read Full Review

Comical Opinions - Gabriel Hernandez May 29, 2025

HYDE STREET #6 moves away from the episodic storytelling about each soul collector to set the foundation for a potential war. Geoff Johns's character work is top-notch as Pranky cements his reputation as the brat you love to hate. Plus, Francis Portela's detailed artwork is exceptional. That said, the big twist of this issue doesn't land well because the rules of Hyde Street are still a mystery. Read Full Review

    Plot
Miss Goodbody is visited at her shop by Pranky, who forces her to tell him why Mr. X-ray visited her. Aside from eliminating a visitor, she has collected 9,998 souls for Scorekeeper and Pranky closed her shop. She cannot leave because if she does, her body will change. Pranky punished her for allying herself with Mr. X-ray.

Meanwhile, Mr. X-ray continues to look for new allies among the "residents" to eliminate Pranky, but none of them want to help him. Aside from mentioning Matinee Monster, they introduce a series of depraved "residents" such as Doctor Ego, Sister Hood, The Demon Within, Raquel Vane, and Green Blood. We will surely get to know all of them in depth later.

Another fine issue in both story and art.

Pranky is out of control and needs to be stopped, but who would dare?

If Mr X-Ray wasn't my favorite resident of Hyde Street before he is now.

Miss Goodbody has been fun too (unlike in the Devour special (not written by Johns)).

Johns is always great and it's nice to see Portela again - I've liked him ever since he made the New 52 LSH kind of readable.

Hyde Street is building up to something and I wanna be along for the ride (unlike the bus passengers in this issue).

Hyde Street 6 is a fascinating piece of satirical horror, intelligently written and well drawn, but yet again, the issue just ends somewhere, without a satisfying conclusion or even some sort of cliffhanger.
