Touching scenes deepen our appreciation for Marli. Travon's love for Mankind puts his future at risk. Epic battle scenes reveal the scope of this global conflict. Sadly, the only subplot that advances this series is a psychological drama involving less-known characters. With its echoes of War Of The Worldsand all the radio, TV, movie, and comic adaptations of the classic novel by H. G. WellsMonarch #3 satisfies. It still feels like the story won't kick into high gear until Travon is reunited with his classmates, but the book does a good job of explaining why the rest of Travon's kind suddenly want him dead. Read Full Review

Monarch #3 is bold and innovative. As with many alien invasion stories, their behaviors share disturbing echoes with our own. Yet despite this, one small alien has made a connection with humans and knows there is a side to them that makes their conquest more complicated. Read Full Review
I'm starting to get more invested in the characters, but there was very little plot progression in this issue.
