You Don't Read Comics - Russ Bickerstaff
Sep 29, 2021There would be a million ways to draw the story closer to the art. Tynion is constructing a really impressive plot, but it's largely just an outline. There are only a couple of moments in the issue that aren't stories delivered entirely in text. It's a real disappointment as the plot IS interesting. A very satisfying issue that ties up Cole's journey with Hawk while also planting seeds for the future of the series. Overall this arc has been more inconsistent than the first but it definitely ended with a banger of an issue.

Fucking loved it! I was expecting some twists on this walk on memory lane with Hawk and Cole, but godamn this was great. The art continues to scare the behjesus outta me, like no comic ever did, and it's just so well framed with the plot, Tynion and Simmonds are a power house. This ended up the story arc perfectly, giving some answers, while setting some questions moving on. Really excited about the future of this series. Now I am ready for some pause issues, after all we gotta know more about the Lady in Red!!

I fucking adore this series. It is still kind of just Cole being this clueless dipshit wandering around these crazy situations while everyone tells him what's going on, BUT that doesn't mean it isn't enjoyable and well written. The art is incredible and I just really love what Tynion has to say about conspiracies in general.

This book gives me the chills nearly every issue. It's so good and Simmonds art pairs so well with it. The potential reveal about Lee was genuinely shocking to me and the fact that it came from an untrustworthy narrator in Hawk added another layer of conspiracy. Between this and Nice House, Tynion is absolutely killing it

This is a solid comic, but this chosen one shit is so trite. And the amount of explaining in each issue lately is just getting grating. I can read a wiki if I'm that interested in the concept of Satan within the foundations of Christianity, and how that plays out in modern times. I think that's a very interesting subject, that's not the problem. The problem is, you should take that concept and don't waste most of it just reiterating the basics of it. I'm sick of the monologue. How many issues have had Hawk monologue about the creation of this and that idea just to finally arrive at the same point again and again? At least there's a twist at the end.

Interesting chapter that I thought threw some good twists in there. I just cant say it was done in a way that deserves a better score.
