From Eisner and Emmy-winning writers! For a few years in his early 20s, Nick Wilson had super powers and all the acclaim associated with them. When those powers vanished, so did his fame, sending him from national hero to late-night punchline. By the time we pick up his story, he is not yet 30 and barely an answer in a trivia contest.
Faced with a life in a rear-view mirror full of lost powers, faded glory, former enemies, ex-girlfriends, and forgotten grudges, Nick struggles to figure out who he is today. Packing on an extra 20 pounds and peering through a medicinal marijuana haze, he is trying to build a future when all that's left is more
Superhero deconstructions have been done to death but Nick Wilson sets itself apart by establishing Nick as an honestly good man we want to root for rather than the cliched total screw-up desperate to reclaim his former glory. That, plus some excellent artwork from Starman/JSA artist Stephen Sadowski make this one to check out. Read Full Review
I had no idea what to expect going into this first issue and the series as a whole but after reading this first issue I want to see where it all goes. While the overall concept is familiar, what's delivered is unique and in a way that takes a world would a superhero and grounds it. A sleeper comic a lot of folks might miss and missing out. 'The Further Adventures of Nick Wilson' is an entertaining character study that's part-The Big Lebowski and part-E! True Hollywood Story. Gorodetsky and Andreyko have created a former hero worth rooting for in the hopes he'll find redemption. It's an intriguing enough debut to stir your curiousity with just the right amount of pathos and humor. Read Full Review
Overall, I must say that I'm intrigued by the first issue. I find the concept to be interesting, the characters complex and the art to be lovely. I feel for Nick and I want to discover more about what his future holds and the path that his life will take. If you're interested in a superhero story, minus the super, then give this series a whirl. Read Full Review
We've yet to see what will happen to our hapless ex-hero but it looks to be a fun adventure. No doubt Nick Wilson won't end up on top, but hopefully it will be better than being covered in vomit or caught by the paparazzi looking like death warmed over. Read Full Review
Eddie Gorodetsky and Marc Andreyko have created something of a modern day Everyman, or at least given your high school's cocky star quarterback a cape. Nick Wilson the failure is a far more endearing character than Nick Wilson the sexcapading defender of justice. Read Full Review
The Futher Adventures of Nick Wilson has a solid creative team behind it, and there's no way for it to disappoint. Read Full Review
This book holds a lot of promise, but the debut underwhelms, despite excellent pencils and colors. Read Full Review
If I didn't know the big names attached to this series, I wouldn't know that they were award-winning writers based on this issue. But like I said previously, it is not a bad issue at all. It will be fun to watch what is in store for Nick WIlson in the future issues, but I am not anxiously waiting for the second issue as of right now. I am open to my mind completely changing on this series as it progresses, so in time we will see. Read Full Review
The Further Adventures of Nick Wilson #1 is a grounded take on someone living an ordinary life past their prime. Sadly, it doesn't provide enough enjoyment to be something more than that. Read Full Review
Interesting slice of life story, but nothing to write home about so far.
Meh. Was hoping it would be better but just not that great to be honest. Maybe it gets better, but being a 5 issue mini, they better hurry.
