Things continue to escalate as Megatron descends more into the Mad King of the Decepticons and Arcee gets a major transformation in Transformers #28. Those two things would be more than enough to make this yet another great chapter of this series. Read Full Review
Transformers #28is a thrilling and unflinching new chapter full of sharp writing and gorgeous art that illustrates the creative team's willingness to push the boundaries for fans who grew up with the IP, taking the series in a decidedly more mature and dangerous direction (for the Autobots at least). Dan Mora continues to deliver insanely stunning takes on the world of Transformers (let's be real, he's killing it on ALL of the books he's drawing across publishers), and the new upgrades to a fan-favorite character were a welcomed addition to the Transformers story. Read Full Review
Kirkman and Mora have kept the series rolling smoothly following the departures of Daniel Warren Johnson and Jorge Corona. After setting the stage for the next big arc, the creative team unleashes some horrifying chaos as Megatron primes his Decepticons to resume their war against the Autobots. This was a solid opening act for this latest conflict. Hopefully, Kirkman can resist the urge to dramatically shrink the cast by the time this conflict concludes. Read Full Review

TRANSFORMERS #28 delivers on the promise that this series respects its characters enough to make death mean something. Kirkman is working with inter-franchise architecture that's been around for several years now. The crossovers compromise the integrity of an issue that could have theoretically explored a lot more with respect to the title characters. There's a lot that's being drawn into the complex complexity of all of the different elements of the.Energon Universe. It may be a little bit more than a single issue can handle. Kirkman DOES modulate the script and keep the action moving with a degree of balance. It just isn't terribly satisfying for anyone who might be particularly interested in any one of the franchisees being brought to the page here. Read Full Review
Alright … Transformers 28 was STACKED with all sorts of story points and some action mixed in for good measure. Megatron is going cuckoo for Cocoa Puffs, Arcee is becoming the new Magnus, Spike & Carly are getting back to normal, Autobots “roll out”, and Trailbreaker has a bad day. This was a great Transformers comic, giving everyone a little something while dropping a cliffhanger at the end. The story & pace are on point and the art … WOW … Optimus Prime has seldom looked so good. My only issue was that they keep putting peanut butter in my chocolate … I really think the MASK plot should be in GI Joe or it’s own book. Still an excellent issue and I highly recommend it!
It was... Okay? This comic is kind of boring.
