Nerd Initiative - Yancy Arce
Apr 23, 2025For reason or another comic book fans seem to be sleeping on this Avengers run. I'm here to wake everyone up to tell them, this is a must read. Jed McKay is writing an acton packed series filled with battles, fun and very human and believeable characters. When you least expect it, a plot thread from 3 arcs ago is picked up with perfect timing. Read Full Review

The Comicbook Dispatch - StoryBabbler
Jun 26, 2025Avengers #25 begins a new story in the midst of One World Under Doom. While the Avengers are away on Earth, some of the new Masters of Evil decide to launch an home invasion of their new HQ and take it for themselves. The new lineup is a mixture of hits and misses, but the writing for them is solid as each villain feels like their own distinct character. The art team of Valerio Schiti and Federico Blee deliver excellent art with the paneling, faces, and the action with Sam Wilson. Read Full Review

Plot The new MASTERS OF EVIL gather to witness the Avengers attempt to stop Doctor Doom (One World Under Doom #3), Mr. Hyde, Dreadknight, Madcap, and The Exterminatrix, led by MAD THINKER. Their plan is to take over IMPOSSIBLE CITY, the large intelligent ship that is the Avengers' current base. They plan to take advantage of all of Doctor Doom's rampage to gain power and, if they can, defeat Doom. Captain America is sent to Impossible City because he is badly injured. At that moment, Mad Thinker manages to hack the main computer, and what remains of Impossible City takes robot form. With Sam, they prepare to stop the Masters of Evil from invading the Ashen Combine. Sam is the last hope of saving Impossible City from being transformed more

This issue is full of McKayisms, which I would have loved to see explored, but sadly, it does not do a great job at it. Like a lot of the characters used do not get a moment to shine, actually pretty much nobody does, and it looks like the dephs that i came to associate with his writing on the title is gone, and here there is nothing that valuable in its place. The issue is like an example of an issue of Mckay but done in the worst way possible. It seems like it builds to be an underdog story about Sam vs the new masters, which is cool, but also quite flat, cos i don't really see the contrasts between Sam and the masters. As we don't see much of the madness or the personal motivations of the master for their evil deed or at least enough more
