Rated T+
Overall, this has been one of the best Blade runs in a very long time and Blade #5 keeps up the story's strong momentum. Read Full Review
This brawl is only getting started, folks. Read Full Review
There's a lot of spectacle, but much of it seems unearned in an adventure that only spans a few issues and chronological days. While this quick turn of events serves to provide a very enticing cliffhanger, the continually rushed pacing of Blade detracts from the series' obvious potential. Read Full Review
Blade #5 makes a bizarre time jump to skip the conclusion of the first arc and begins an epilogue to set up the next arc. Truly, you'll feel like you missed an issue in between, but it's not you. Whatever strategy Hill was going for, it didn't pay off. Read Full Review
Good issue and quite fun. Really is an interesting contrast with some previous issues. Hill has been doing a great job showing how Blade, when he is in his zone, is an amazing killing machine. When his anger and pride get the better of him he makes some serious mistakes. A character you can really cheer for. His poor ex though. Feel terrible for what happened to her. Blades got to get his act together.
Only sort of iffy moment was Dr. Strange and Blade. Better than the previous issue for the interactions but it still feels like it needs some work. That and the time-skip. I went easy on this issue but honestly there should have been an extra issue... This brings me to my next point though...
I have serious worries for more
Was hoping for a battle between Blade and Adana. Not much action in this issue. The positive was the artwork and dark atmosphere.
I'm glad to see Casagrande fully back on the art duties, but Hill's writing hasn't been my favorite here or in the previous issue. A good chunk of these feels rushed without much time to really digest the scenes. Hopefully this series can get back on track with Dracula being brought in.
This series started out so well and to see it turn to crap is disappointing. The ending was a complete cop out. This was advertised as the end of the arc and it's continuing in tomb of dracula? Is that right? Without seeing the fight, Blade lost and Adana turned everyone into monsters, then she portaled him away so he could go see Dracula. That's all that happens in the entire issue.
