Two of Marvel's oldest heroes, spotlighting with truly excellent art and a lot of understanding of their long histories. What's not to love? Read Full Review
If you're a lapsed Marvel reader, or just looking for a simple book that manages both beautiful art and brilliant simplicity with it's storytelling, I couldn't recommend this issue more. Read Full Review
Clobberin' Time #1 is a good start to a series that leans into the adventures of Ben Grimm and looks great doing it. There's the promise of an ongoing mystery to uncover that perfectly sets up a team-up series that'll be an easy one to add to the pile. Pick upClobberin' Timeknowing it exudes old-fashioned charm. Clobberin' Time promises readers one thing: Steve Skroce drawing The Thing fight all sorts of strange stuff; Clobberin' Time #1 delivers upon that promise and exceeds it with a style that from the page layouts to the dialogue could only belong to Skroce. Read Full Review
Clobberin' Time #1 is a big pile of clobberin', smashin' fun. Skroce's snappy banter is highly entertaining, the action is cartoonishly violent (in the best way), and the connective mystery linking this issue to the next is intriguing. Read Full Review
Skroce wouldnt be picking up a series like this if he wasnt a big fan of the Thing. Theres real love thats put into Ben Grimms appearance on the page. Its a rich and cuddly kind of craggy rockiness that Skroce is bringing to the page. Next month, Ben teams up with a rugged little bruiser as he fights alongside Wolverine. Hes not a bad choice for the second issue of a five-part series. Skroce is off to a good start. Read Full Review
Writer/artist Steve Skroces script is appealing zany and weird, but the real star of Clobberin Time #1 are his wacky visuals. Just a few examples for the imagination on display includes an Iron Man/Doctor Doom/Ultron hybrid man wielding (what appears to be) a Mjolnir briefcase, a kaiju I can only describe as a goth Klawf, and an allen race of what are basically mystical shaved Ewoks, theres a lot to look at here. Bryan Valenzas colors enhance the vibe further, with each page popping with all sorts of flavor between Skroces heavy lines. Clobberin Time has a big indie comic sensibility in tone that makes it an incredibly entertaining read, but even if youre only here for the clobberin promised by the title, youll likely walk away from it satisfied. Loved this. The story is simple but with the Fantastic art this is easily a 10.
At first glance: sounds dumb, looks ugly. But then you read it and realize it's whip-smart, gorgeously grotesque, and extremely funny.
It's rare for a comic to function so well on both superficial and deep levels. Whether you just want to breeze through the fun clobbering or scrutinize each panel for hints about the big picture plot, you'll be satisfied here.
The issue furnishes its own descriptor: "It was a symphony played with fists upon skulls…"
Great FUN and I love the art by Steve Skroce. I got vibes of the classic Marvel Two-in-One from the late 1970s. Looking forward to the next issue and who will be Ben Grimm's co-star.
Classical action-packed Hulk/Thing crossover that manages to very funny. I have soft spot for silly Hulk adventure especially with the Thing as a "straight man". Really enjoyed Skroce's art (haven't seen his before). Very dynamic and gory. Really hyped for the next one with Logan
Fun read, and the banter between Hulk and Grimm is humorous which is always good in a Marvel comic.
This is fun.
