Daredevil #21 drags Matt Murdock into another hellish ordeal. He's kidnapped, infected with a fungus, and wrestling with the emotional fallout of the last arc. Saladin Ahmed keeps the psychological tension sharp while artists Carlos Nieto and Jose Luis Soares blend horror and introspection beautifully. Plus, the return of the armored costume makes it worthwhile alone, along with other great visual feasts for the eye. It's an eerie, character-driven chapter that pits Matt's guilt and instincts against a chilling new villain. Gross, gripping, and thankfully without the stink. Read Full Review

Weird Science Marvel Comics - Wakizashi Gray May 14, 2025

Daredevil #21 is a great-looking comic book. The creative team makes impressive and inventive use of Matt Murdock's enhanced senses as he fights his weird fungus infection and tracks down the source of the mushroom madness. We still don't know who is behind it all or what their endgame is, but I'm enjoying the mystery. Read Full Review

    Plot
Matt wakes up in this basement, but his senses help him understand the infection he's dealing with with the spores; his body is used to being on the edge. Matt dresses in his Daredevil armor suit and carries Nyla and Sayeda in his arms.

The police arrive without an ambulance and treat both of them, but the police tell Daredevil a story that seems to be orchestrated by a powerful monster.

Daredevil begins tracking an essence and energy emanating from this fungus throughout the city until he reaches the other side of the city and encounters a monster that has been waiting for him.

This story arc blends supernatural horror with the street-level superhero genre.

It's a little repetitive. Matt keeps talking about his powers make him different than a normal person. I do like the idea and concept though. It's at least entertaining.

This book will continue to suck as long as Saladin Ahmed is at the helm.
