In South America, Conan finds himself enslaved - which is typically bad news for those attempting to do the enslaving! But these enslavers come from beyond the stars, and they’ve got a singular and grisly end in store for the Cimmerian - one that only Venom can help him avoid!
There's grindhouse, and then there's Savage Avengers grindhouse. This book is outrageously over the top and entertaining in its delivery of violence. It literally one-ups itself multiple times. It's great fun and visually absorbing too. This is rowdy, outlandish escapism at its finest. Read Full Review
Look, I am not going to tell you Empyre: Savage Avengers #1 is a great story (I don't know if there is even much of one here). You also don't need to read this to stay up to date on what is happening with “Empyre”. But I will tell you, if you want a story that feels like a buddy-cop movie from the '80s, then you should pick this up. If you want to have some fun with Conan the Barbarian and Venom, then look no further. Also, I mean, it has Greg Smallwood on interior art, and we don't get that often, so if you like great comic-book art you kind of have to grab this. Read Full Review

Granted, this is not necessary to Empyre or as a single issue in the least, but if you like Conan team-ups, you're going to enjoy this little detour quite a bit. Read Full Review
A fun story, but iirc Eddie Brock never makes an appearance in Savage Avengers. If that's the case, the premise is a bit off, but whatever. It is still a fun read.
This gets a 2 for the story by Duggan but is saved by Smallwood's art. What a waste of time except for the art that stops me from throwing it away.
A fun issue. Albeit a one shot featuring Conan, relatively pointless, Venom randomly thrown in just cause, but still really fun. The writing by Duggan was very up-beat and wild. Lots of action which I love. Some great simple yet effective panel work and nice art. Just a fun tie-in but not necessary. And kinda a rip-off for 5 bucks.
This is entirely pointless, but Greg Smallwood kills it on the art. Gerry Duggan writes a great Conan and, it turns out, a terrible Eddie Brock. I did not like how he was written here at all. Maybe it would fit more back in the 90s, but especially now as Donny Cates has really evolved his character over in Venom, it just doesn't work. So you know, this was fun, but it could've been better. Only read it if you're just that big of a Conan fan, or you're an event completionist.
The art was nice and so was Conan. Kind of a throwaway, but not horrible.
