The mashup between Spider-Man and Godzilla actually works pretty well circa 1984. It's a fun combination of different elements that probably would've been a little bit more comfortable and felt a little bit more authentic to the era if it had been allowed to play out over the course of a tour or three issue mini series. That being said, it's just a lot of fun. Even for people who wouldn't necessarily have been interested in anything that happened to the character over the course of the past 40 years or so.. It's more than a little bit goofy. But it's a lot of fun. Read Full Review

Godzilla vs Spider-Man isn't a highlight of this line of Godzilla Marvel comics, with the 80s throwback being more of a hindrance than anything. The issue is still filled with plenty of fun webhead action that makes the story fun, but superficial. Read Full Review
Plot
This story takes place in the mid-1980s, after the events of SECRET WARS.
Peter Parker's status quo at the time was as follows: - He returns to planet Earth in a black (pre-Venom) symbiote suit - He's dating Black Cat - MJ, Peter's ex, is about to return to Manhattan - JJ Jameson demands better photos of him, like those of Eddie Brock
But just as he was about to defeat Shocker, Godzilla appeared out of nowhere and began following him throughout the city. He wanted to catch the symbiote. His scream caused the suit to separate from Peter, and it joined Godzilla...
The venomized Godzilla attacked the city uncontrollably, obviously following the orders of Knull, the king of the symbiotes. But Peter had more
My expectations of this were too high. But I still enjoyed it.
MJ, black cat, spidey triangle at peak. Godzilla versus venom. Amazing art. Good script. Ok story.
I'm going to be honest, I was biased due to a good review... so my hopes were high for this one. Sadly it didn't convert my high hopes. I was hoping for something jaw dropping but this is just a fun silly one shot without any layer of story. That is all it is, just fun brawling emptiness. And you know what, sometimes that is just all you need.
Art is nice... nothing more.
