Issue #2 more than reaches the bar set by issue #1. Its just as off the wall crazy while still being incredibly charming, and most importantly, fun. Read Full Review
The follow-up to Chip Zdarsky and Joe Quinones' debut isn't as laugh-out-loud funny as the first issue, but it still stands up as one of the best examples of humor in capes comics today. Read Full Review
Howard the Duck #2 continues with fun, wacky and hilarious story and art while also bringing some nice emotional moments. Read Full Review
Be warned, the more you read, the more you'll find yourself making bird puns. Read Full Review
It's a breakneck pace to get Howard out of space-prison, and the team-up with Rocket feels very consistent overall, while the same can't be said for the other Guardians who show up. Because of the pace, the humor hits fast and hard, but that makes it weird when the melodrama starts" especially since we're still not sure who Howard really *is,* beyond what we take for granted. There's enough genuine laughs here, and quirky art, to keep this title moving in an upward direction. Read Full Review
There's a back-up story about Luke Cage and Iron Fist suing Howard for the use of 'Hero for Hire' which is probably the funniest thing about this issue. There are some classic Howard moments where he's being a sarcastic jerk, there's the 'Cosmic Con' that the Collector is attending that is a funny one panel send up of cons, there's even Spider-Man sleeping in front of a candle lit shrine to Howard when Howard gets back (complete with a picture of Howard looking pensive) but the back-up story is the best. There's a pretty obscure David Bowie reference (Howard's advert says that he can be a hero, even if it's just for one day), an inept lawyer that tries to hint he's Spider-Man (because, as they point out, it worked so well for Matt Murdock) but what got a pretty good laugh from me was Howard's phone number which is 555-DUK-DICK. That's just good old fashioned stupid humor right there. I enjoyed this second issue quite a bit and I'm still ready and raring for the next one. Read Full Review
Humor comics are no easy task, but the creative team on "Howard the Duck" defies the odds. The first two issues have already handled a heist and a prison break, and I can't wait to see what's up next. Read Full Review
Howard the Duck continues to be a hilarious read, with the fun antics of this talking duck being extremely entertaining. The interaction, and different characteristics also allow him to be an interesting character, and though the Guardians of the Galaxy are misused, the overall issue is still awesome. Read Full Review
Issue #2 of Howard The Duck offers the same fun banter as the first, as Howard's newest job as a private investigator gets the Marvel treatment. He just wants to live a normal life! But is that even possible? Read Full Review
Humorous characters tend to be hard to write because they are extremely difficult to make compelling while still hewing to what makes them funny. Deadpool runs across this problem all the time and truly great creators know how to work around the problem without betraying the core funniness of the book. Zdarsky has a great head for writing Howard as a complete screwball, but then turning things on their head and not just having some introspective, powerful moments, but theyre moments that actually tie INTO the humor. The art might not be perfect throughout, but when it gets there, its truly great and it still tells the story entertainingly throughout. Read Full Review
Still, the issue is a lot of fun (if a bit creepy in its plot), and I think if the series has enough time to find its legs, it could be a successful run. Read Full Review
On a closing note, Howard the Duck #2 is worth buying if only for it featuring one of the most memorable closing cliffhanger pages of all time. You guys aren't going to want to miss that. Read Full Review
Yea... This hits the sweet spot of comics for me. Howard shows some emotional background story and is still hilarious. Feathered and furry friends working together and are the backbone of this issue making me want more interaction of the same. Howard dealing with humans is great, but with other animals he seems more human. Gritty artwork is a nice contrast to the writing. Pick up this series of you want to live.
Great stuff! Zdarsky from this era was pure comedy gold! It feels like I'm in the 80s or 90s but still current at the same time. Quinones is so good too! I love this book!
This is dumb on so many levels, so I just can't dislike it. Back in 2017 I laughed at that Spider-Man moment like an idiot. The side story is dumbly awesome as well... Not a fan of cosmic Marvel, though, so this issue kinda sank on a few pages for me, but still can't rate it any lower.
Pretty funny, I can't say how surprised I am at the quality put into a Howard the Duck comic. The backup story is great too, with Chew arist Rob Guillory.
