NYX (2024) #2 branches out and broadens horizons. Read Full Review
NYX #2 is a violent entry into this run as we meet Laura, AKA Wolverine, and she holds nothing back in her quest to save fellow mutants. This run should find it's way into your weekly box at your LCS as the team is just getting started. Read Full Review
Mortarino delivers some fantastic art throughout the issue. I really enjoyed the visual style and how it handles both the characters and the action. Read Full Review
NYX #2 offers exceptional characterization for Laura Kinney, laying a solid foundation for the rest of the series, even if I'm not particularly interested in the villain introduced in this issue. Read Full Review
The single-character focus of NYX continues to work well with fleeing appearances from Ms. Marvel and Prodigy showing how isolated Laura is although she does find some fleeting moments of happiness between the property destruction and skin getting flayed off. Read Full Review
NYX #2 is going to please Laura Kinney fans as it delves into her loner nature while digging up some of her past. Unfortunately, I don't think it entirely works, especially because of how it leaves her on the final page. Still, the art is great, and the moody nature of Laura in this story has good moments. "[That's] what I love about living in New York Citythat something new and possible is perpetually awaiting." Hop on the train now; issue #3 comes out on September 25th. Read Full Review
NYX #2 delivers a Luara Kinney-centric issue when she tracks down a masked gang "helping young mutants off the streets and into a safe space. Unfortunately, Lanzing and Kelly's script execution is riddled with poor transitions, characters that pop in and out from literally nowhere, and a jaw-droppingly bizarre ending. If it wasn't for the decent art by Francesco Mortarino, this comic would be a total loss. Read Full Review
Kelly/Lanzing are completely nailing these individual character POV issues. First it was Kamala in the debut issue. Now, this issue focuses on Laura & we see her at her worst, her best, & everything in between. The pacing is a bit rushed, but does enough to keep Laura’s story from feeling forced. The Hivemind did a femininomenonal job positioning Laura THE Wolverine. Amazing character-driven work from these two writers that is everything I want in an X-Men book.
I wasn’t expecting a Mojo appearance but holy crap did Mortarino & Angulo create a visually haunting version of the character! Even with some awesome visuals, including a top notch design for Laura’s costume, their depiction of Mojo was a standout of the issue. Jt more
I liked this one a lot more than #1, which I also liked well enough. Issue 2 was great though, meh art notwithstanding. Laura's hard ass attitude, solo mission, everything worked really well for me. I enjoyed it a lot.
