Runaways #6 makes a battle with cats feel threatening as Rowell gives a refreshing take on the definition of an evil parent. Read Full Review
Matthew Wilson and Kris Anka continue to shine in this week's Runaways #6, delivering another issue that elevates writer Rainbow Rowell's solid script into something as beautiful as it is deeply emotional to read. Read Full Review
The first new Runaways story sticks the landing with style and humor, a master class in how to revive a long dormant series, and keep it both classic and new. Read Full Review
After months of setup, creepy grandmas, teary eyed reunions, robot head revivals, heartbreaking setbacks and telepathic cats, we finally have The Runaways back in full fighting force!! Issue #6 finally lets a few powers loose and gets over that “getting the band back together” arc that we've been watching unfold. I'm excited for what Kris Anka and Rainbow Rowell have in store for the future if this run. They both have blank canvases to work with, which makes this a phenomenal time to be reading Runaways. Its not perfect, but the amount of love provided by the creative team consistently delivered a wonderful job producing a high-quality story. The book will definitely capture and play with your emotions. It will make you laugh, excited, worried and even make your heartache. Runways is definitely a book I would recommend and the first arc concluded in this issue wonderfully, yet will still keep readers and the fans wanting for more! Read Full Review
With the conclusion of the first story arc, it is good to have the Runaways together for a second chance at freedom from their lives. Again there's not much to anticipate from the next story arc beyond the reveal of this threat behind the scenes, and maybe finding out what happened to some others like Klara. However, not knowing what to expect should be good for the element of surprise considering it is anything goes right now. Read Full Review
With some of the best art and characterization in the series thus far, you'd think that RUNAWAYS #6 would be a must buy. However, while I highly recommend this issue, the lackluster and high paced plot left me scratching my head on more than one occasion. While the events of the plot had me excited, the pacing broke down the strength of the events within. Read Full Review
Molly's grandmother isn't who she seems to be. Can the runaways survive an evil Granny? With the art continuing to impress, this is a promising step into a new arc. Read Full Review
While it's uncertain exactly where the Runaways will go next, this issue will certain make fans even more excited to follow that journey. Read Full Review
Art-wise, this book is great. Kris Anka continues to put out solid work, with expressive faces and vibrant colors keeping the eyes of the reader for the entirety of the issue. Though this series has its issues, the conclusion of this issue gives a lot of hope that this will shape up to be a top quality comic in short order. Read Full Review
The team reunites and takes a willing Molly from her evil grandma. It is definitely a good comic, but I was hoping for greatness. It feels like a premature victory lap: "Here you go, Runaways reunited! Address your congratulatory love-letters to mheroes@marvel.com!" "What about Dr. Grandma? Are they turning her over to the Avengers or what? And what exactly did Karolina's big fight-winning zap do?" "Enh."
Nitpicks in the aftermath of a "good not great" conclusion:
* Starting the issue by calling Chase stupid, lame, and useless is nasty. Though he goes on to play the emotional anchor in an obviously-important way, it feels like the criticism is shouted and the rebuttal is whispered.
* The colors scrupulously more
Awe man, it was such a good issue in so many ways, but... You can't just resolve the climax with a flash of light, wtf happened!?
