The bigger picture is that Hickman and Weaver have crafted a brilliant Marvel epic that begs to be re-read as much for its depth as to simply steal another glance at Weaver's artwork. Read Full Review

You Don't Read Comics - Jason Dincauze Jun 14, 2018

Its hard to believe S.H.I.E.L.D. is finally over. Its been a long time coming, and its hard to say if this final issue is worth the wait, but it definitely doesnt skimp on the kind of big ideas the series has become known for. Its not hard to guess where the story will continue--good money is on Dan Slotts upcoming Iron Man and Fantastic Four--and hopefully that will lead to some further answers to lingering questions, but, for now, S.H.I.E.L.D. is complete. Only time will tell if it enters the upper echelon of what is considered great comic work, but its hard to say it doesnt deserve it, even if the ending will leave readers scratching their heads and wanting more. If you enjoyed this title I strongly recommend reading other works under Hickman's pen, such as his run on the Fantastic Fouror Secret Warriors which brought back Leonardo Da Vinci, and his work on Avengers and Infinity. Hickman's stories are carefully constructed plots that are well organized, and filled with wonder, additionally they feel like pieces of a puzzle revealing a greater landscape. No other writer in my opinion has executed their vision as sophisticated as Hickman's they are artistic products of wonder and imagination that have really fleshed out the marvel universe, I'm happy to have been along for the ride, delay notwithstanding. The potential for great things involving SHIELD is currently out there now and I hope Hickman or anyone for that matter runs with it. If you're a Hickman fan, get the issue. If you can wait, the hardcover comes out next month with 6 issues in it. I totally recommend a reread of the entire thing and have no doubt this hardcover will be on my bookshelf at home. Welcome to the Oblivion Bar where the first round is on me and the pretzels are free! Be warned: like the pickled eggs at the bar, this issue is going to get SPOILED rotten.

Trying to decipher this issue with one read is like trying to understand how Balki Bartokomous and Larry Appleton from “Perfect Strangers” were related, how it lasted for 8 seasons and (no lie) 150 episodes!!! So, I read it four times.... maybe more... and I’ll try my best to tell you what I learned. Hickman went big, and epic, and he didn’t disappoint.... like usual. It was deep and confusing but totally interesting and far out at the same time.

The main point behind this entire run, in my humble opinion, was not only to show how long SHI more

Reading this near perfect book is like traveling through time and seeing Marvel before it self destructed.
