THE SECRET LIFE OF EVA BELL - Part 1
• Part one of the epic two-part tale of the time-manipulating mutant Eva Bell's greatest secret.
• Losing control of her powers, Eva disappeared during a training exercise in Tabula Rasa. Reappearing shortly thereafter, she seemed older and far more weathered, but refused to offer an explanation.
• But where did her powers take her? Or maybe the better question is when? And what could she have endured to cause her to keep her story secret from her fellow X-Men?

In an age of overhyped crossover events, Bendis uses a simple, personal story to completely change the X-Men canon. This is a memorable read. Read Full Review
Fans of Eva Bell, aka Tempus will love this issue. While I was simply lukewarm to her character before, this issue has opened my eyes to who she is and who she has the potential to be. The idea of Eva spending some years in other time eras is a fascinating one. Others may cry out, "called it" but I didn't see the events from this issue coming. Andrea Sorrentino's art is a welcomed treat here. He captures the essence of the story perfectly. The only downside is we have to wait for ALL-NEW X-MEN ANNUAL #1 to find out what happens next. An exquisite Part 1 (to be continued in All New X-Men Annual #1) that doesn't rest on the intellectual laurels of time travel, Uncanny X-Men Annual #1 is a must grab for fans of these young characters Bendis is bringing to the fore, with Eva now poised to stand out among them most of all. Even if it's not clear how thiss tory will imapct Bendis' larger run, it's fascinating character-building material for Eva. It's also gorgeous. Read Full Review
The art is wonderfully done as well. Andrea Sorrentino's Marvel debut is great, and the art style is perfect for a story like this. Overall, Marvel does a great job introducing a new X-Men to the new generation, and I can't wait to see what her story is going to bring to the bigger picture. Read Full Review
WithUncanny X-Men Annual #1we have now had a taste of part one of what Eva Bell has had to endure to cause her to keep her story secret from her fellow X-Men. Love Eva for what she is capable of with her powers, feel sympathy for what she found and lost, or take interest in her for how she will affect the outcome of what's going on in the present. All you need to know is that this now matured time traveler holds cards that you would have never expected when first introduced to her. It only saddens you to know that even with the knowledge of this experience, that's all it will ever be since the future isn't written in stone. Read Full Review
Brian Michael Bendis writing both Uncanny X-Men and All-New X-Men allows him to stretch this annual out to two different titles. After reading the first part readers should have been entertained and curious for what happens next. The art and colors were top-notch as this issue was very well done. Part two cant come soon enough. Read Full Review
With Andrea Sorrentinos artistic touch and Marvel behind this comic, it will do very well. I'm already for the second one. So if you're reading this Brian, thanks for making me into a superhero! The legend of Eva will live on through the time entire universe! Or, at least, in the Marvel World. Read Full Review

With that, I'm looking forward to All-New X-Men Annual #1 to add some extra layers. Were it not for the buildup and the likelihood that what happened to Eva will factorinto what's to come, this would have been an interesting read all in itself. But with months and months of storytelling, plot twists, and forward-pointing, it just doesn't satisfy. Read Full Review
The idea behind "Uncanny X-Men Annual" #1 is interesting, and at first the issue looks like it's off to a good start. But what could have been an emotional and touching moment is instead bland and by the numbers. It's a real shame, because there was almost certainly a way to make all of this work. But for now, it just doesn't come together. Read Full Review
All in all, Uncanny X-Men Annual #1 is a frustrating comic. There's a lot of potential in the concept, writing, and artwork, but some crucial missteps make this a weak addition to Bendis' story. Read Full Review
Really intriguing!
This story is a powerful concept and very effectively written. If you didn't give a crap about Eva before, like me, this is the book that flushes her out into a real character for you. The only downside to this issue is that the inking is rather weak, though the art makes up for it with glorious colours and layouts.
Wow, Bendis! Wish the main books were like this.
I’m always skeptical while picking up Annuals. They are usually more expensive and usually don’t contribute to the main ongoing story. More often than not, it’s a chance to showcase a writer or artist that don’t normally appear on the book, and give them a chance to work with the characters involved. They can be a good time, but I ask myself, “Am I going to be missing anything if I don’t get this?” The answer with this one, is “YES!” I’ve been waiting for Uncanny X-Men to focus on the new mutants that Cyclops has recruited for months now. Eva Bell, Tempus, might be the most intriguing of these new characters. Goldballs, Morph, Triage, Hijack… they’re all great. But you could tell that Bendis has been building towardsmore
