Writer Cullen Bunn and artists Nathan Stockman and Matt Milla bring X-MEN BLUE back to Poison-X with the first installment in "The Search for Jimmy Hudson" arc.For some readers, this may be a good thing. But for others, the Poison plot-point may feel a little abused. After so many arcs and miniseries pitting the X-Men against the Poisons, I think most of us can agree it's time to move on. Venomized continues to have an impact on X-Men Blue, and what could be a great X-Men series suffers for it. Read Full Review
While not as dynamic as the last arc, the story promises to develop Jimmy Hudson further and differentiate him from Logan, Daken, Laura, and the other characters in the Wolverine family, and that's not necessarily a bad thing. This earns a definite recommendation if you're a fan of Jimmy or the Poison symbiotes, but if you're not, then this is a story you may want to skip. Read Full Review
The serviceable but not particularly memorable artwork does little to elevate the material. Read Full Review
Focusing on the O5 X-Men and their struggle to redeem Jimmy Hudson from Poison possession just emphasizes how deeply divided this title's two main plotlines have become. The visuals are serviceable, but taking yet another spin on the artist roulette wheel does us no favors.
I think the O5 branch of Blue has better characters and the Magneto branch has better plots. Add it all together and there's enough material to make a good series, but fumbling back and forth between the two branches wrecks the momentum on both of them.
While this new arc has the potential to seal the gap, this first issue does very little repair work. Poisoned Jimmy and Mothervine Jimmy are so far apart I'd honestly welcome the revelation that ther more
They clearly don't know what else to do with the time/alternate reality displaced X-Men anymore, and are just killing time until Extermination.
So I didn't see Jean dying in the X-men blue/Venom crossover but see Cyclop mourn. So I was very surprised to see her here.
And I didn't read Venomized (That I trust in another univers than the Marvel current univers) and so was very disappointed to see Jimmy with a symbot. Some time ago with the Weapon H some friend joke about a wolverine/venom character ... Well Bunn was listening it's seems. And didn't recognize a joke & a dumb idea.
Well done to make me the need to close the book & run far away the next issus I have solicited by the way.
And so now the young Iceman can do what the old made a lot of time & suffering to learn (The multiplication of himself)
Cover - 2/2 Sadly related & nice.
Writing - More du more
Zipped through this in 5 minutes and forgot it in half the time.
This cast of characters needs a major status quo change to rekindle interest, as this book is starting to linger very close to the ol' chopping block,
Art looked like it was done in an afternoon.
Maybe tack an extra point onto the score I gave if you read 'Venomized', as the events here may have a bit more meaning to you.
